Julian caught on the second she tried to slip out again, and when she followed it up with that kind of comment, whatever patience he had left snapped.
He pushed her back onto the bed in one clean motion and moved with her, pressing her down before she could react.
Quinn immediately panicked and tried to shove him away, but he caught both her wrists with ease and pinned them above her head, holding them there without effort.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together, close enough that she could feel everything, leaving no space between them.
The intimacy hit her all at once, sharp and overwhelming, and her face flushed so fast it felt like she might pass out from the embarrassment alone.
Julian’s gaze burned, intense and unrelenting, making it impossible for her to meet his eyes.
“Julian…” she said, her voice trembling as she struggled beneath him, “don’t do this, just let me go…”
“I’m not doing anything to you,” Julian said, irritation running just under the surface of his voice, controlled but unmistakable. “Did I force you, did I touch you where I shouldn’t, or do anything that crosses a line?”
He took a breath, clearly trying to keep himself in check, then continued, “I handled it myself, went and took a freezing shower, and I still didn’t lay a hand on you, did I?”
Quinn’s heart skipped hard at that, and only then did she realize something she had missed.
His body felt cold against hers.
In weather like this, he had actually stood under freezing water just to calm himself down.
Julian was still talking, his frustration building instead of easing. “Quinn, how do you just walk out like that without saying anything, do you have any idea how that looks? You’re seriously unbelievable.”
Quinn blinked, then said quietly, almost without thinking, “You should take some cold medicine.”
Julian paused, caught off guard.
That was not the direction he expected at all.
Quinn added, still soft, “If you keep doing that, you’re going to get sick.”
Julian let out a breath that turned into a short, disbelieving laugh. “That’s what you’re worried about right now? If you actually cared about me…”
He shifted closer, pressing his body firmly against hers so she couldn’t ignore what he meant, forcing her to feel the tension he was dealing with.
His voice dropped, rough and low. “Quinn, a cold shower doesn’t fix this, so tell me, what do

supposed to do?”
Her mind went completely blank.
This was the first time she had ever been this close to a man while fully conscious, aware of every detail instead of hiding behind blurred memories.
She didn’t know everything, but she knew enough.
Her face flushed deeper, a mix of heat and nerves, her thoughts tangling together as panic set in.
“Julian…” she stammered, twisting instinctively as she tried to get away, “just let go, don’t do this…”
He was already pushing himself to hold back, and her movement only made it worse.
“Stop moving,” Julian said through clenched teeth, his voice tight with restraint, “Quinn, just stay still for a second…”
Her face burned even hotter, and for the first time, real fear crept in.
Yes, she had crossed lines with him before, more than once, but every single time she hadn’t been in her right mind.
If she had been sober, there was no way she would have dared.
Not even if someone had pushed her.
Trying to sneak out earlier had been wrong, she knew that now, rude and thoughtless, but she never imagined he would react like this.
If he actually decided to do something, there was no way she could stop him.
The difference between them was too obvious.
Her voice dropped into a quiet plea. “I won’t leave, okay, I’ll stay, just… don’t do this, please…”
Julian was still holding himself back, still annoyed, but then something clicked.
She was shaking. Not just resisting, actually afraid.
For a moment, it threw him off. Did she really think he was going to force her?
At first, he had only meant to scare her a little, to stop her from running off again without a word.
But now, the more he thought about it, the more irritated he became.
So that was how she saw him.
If she already thought the worst, then what difference did it make if he crossed that line?
Especially when he was already this close, already dealing with it.
And after everything she had done before, pushing him again and again without realizing it.

By her logic, this would just be payback.
What made it worse was how strong this felt compared to before.
Because this time, she was fully aware.
Julian didn’t hesitate anymore. He reached up, caught her chin, and kissed her.
Quinn’s whole body jolted the second their lips met, a sharp, electric feeling rushing through her, spreading from her chest outward until her fingers tingled.
Before, everything between them had been blurred, pieces of memory without sensation.
She knew what had happened, but she had never truly felt it..
Now she did. Now she understood. So this was what a kiss actually felt like.
Her body reacted before her mind could catch up, a trembling warmth building into something dizzying, something that made it hard to think at all.
All she could focus on was him, the closeness, the softness of his lips against hers.
He hadn’t even deepened the kiss, hadn’t gone any further, and still it was enough to make everything feel unsteady.
They both felt it, that pull, slow and consuming, impossible to ignore. And then, just as suddenly, Julian pulled away.
The warmth disappeared, leaving a strange emptiness behind.
Quinn opened her eyes slowly and looked at him, her gaze unfocused, soft, almost dazed, carrying a quiet kind of invitation she didn’t even realize she was giving.
Julian’s throat tightened as he swallowed, his breathing heavier now, tension still written all over him.
He couldn’t do this.
Even if she drove him to the edge, even if part of him wanted to push further, he couldn’t let their first real moment happen like this.
