Chapter 261 Stumble Into His Arms
“The ground’s a little rough. Watch your step.”
Quinn stared at her feet in the dim streetlight. “How do you even know about a place like this?”

“I’m still just a person, you know,” Julian said. “I’ve been coming around these alleys near the tailor shop for years.”
This alley wasn’t much different from the one where Adele lived.
A small soup shop was tucked inside, run by an elderly couple. The place was tiny, but spotless.
Julian was clearly a regular. The two seniors greeted him warmly as soon as they saw him.
It was already late, so no other customers were around.
Julian had called ahead in the car, so their clam chowder was already simmering on the stove.
The rich, briny aroma filled the air, making their stomachs growl.
They waited about ten minutes before a steaming pot was set in front of them.
Julian spooned her a bowl. “Take it slow. It’s really hot.”
On such a cold winter night, the creamy, flavorful chowder warmed Quinn all the way through. She ate until she felt completely satisfied.
“If you like it, we can come back next time,” Julian said, serving her another bowl. “No rush. I’m not in a hurry to finish.”
It was past ten when they left the shop.
The alley was far from the city’s noise, quiet and peaceful.
Quinn glanced up at the sky, then her foot slipped. She let out a small gasp as a strong hand wrapped around her waist.
“Careful!”
The stone pavement in the alley was old and uneven, with some chunks missing. That was why she’d stumbled.
Julian held her steady by the waist.
Through her thick down coat, she couldn’t feel the warmth of his hand, but his grip was firm. He pulled her gently against his chest until she regained her balance.
Quinn had leaned into him at first, but she steadied herself quickly. Julian let go right away.
He’d told her he respected her, and he would never take advantage of her like that.

Chapter 261 Stumble Into His Arms
In truth, since they’d met. Quinn had been the one crossing lines.
She’d touched him all over when she was drunk, leaving him struggling to hold back.

If he hadn’t controlled himself so strictly, things would have gone much further between them on the yacht.
Quinn knew perfectly well that Julian was a complete gentleman.
Everything he did was thoughtful and restrained.
When she tried to push him away by saying he didn’t respect her, it was just an excuse.
He was so flawless that she didn’t even know how to say no to him.
That was why she’d told Lucy she liked quiet, well–behaved guys.
She hadn’t even believed it herself, but Lucy had run off and told Julian anyway.
Julian was tall and broad–shouldered. Nothing about his personality or presence screamed “obedient.”
But when he said he would be good for her, the contrast made Quinn’s heart race.
How could he be this charming without even trying?
He’s already outstanding, attractive, and magnetic.
When he directs all his softness toward one person, who could possibly resist him?
Quinn knew she didn’t stand a chance.
Julian had held her for only a moment before letting go, but her face still burned pink.
He repeated softly, “Watch your step. The path isn’t easy.”
