Chapter 279 The Forced Match
“I need to talk to you about something. Come to the club.”
Julian was in such a good mood that he told his driver to change course right away.
Zeke never joked around–if he said it was important, it really was.
Sure enough, when he arrived at the club, he found Zeke drinking alone.
Zeke was the kind of guy who loved crowds; he was always surrounded by other wealthy heirs.
For him to be alone like this meant something was seriously wrong.
Julian sat down on the opposite sofa. “What’s going on?”
Zeke poured him a drink as soon as he saw him, but Julian waved it off. “I’m not drinking.”
“Boring.” Zeke leaned back and rubbed his temples. “Some friend you are.”
“Is alcohol going to fix it?” Julian said. “What’s bothering you?”

“My mom,” Zeke sighed. “She’s pushing me to go on blind dates. Wants me to marry someone from the Jinn family for an alliance.”
“The Jinn family?”
The four biggest families in Lakeshore City were the Sterlings, Crofts, Dixons, and Yorks.
But over the past decade, only the Sterlings and Crofts had kept rising.
The Dixons and Yorks had been declining fast.
That was why Julian had been able to get Maddox sent away with just a single word.
Another reason was the Jinn family, which was rapidly gaining power and taking over resources, making it hard for the Dixons and Yorks to compete.
The Jinn family had moved to Lakeshore from another state.
Even big out–of–town powers can rarely outmaneuver local elites. But the Jinns were capable and extremely wealthy, with ties to the Jinn clan in the Voss City backing them up.
“The Jinns here are related to the Voss City branch,” Zeke explained. “Years ago, my grandfather owed the Voss City Jinns a favor. Now that they’re doing well here, my mom got the idea.”
Julian shrugged. “Doesn’t sound all that bad.”
“I am open to an arranged marriage, but not this soon!” Zeke said. “And you know what? The daughter they’re pushing isn’t even their real one.”
Julian wasn’t particularly interested.

Chapter 274 The Forced Match
But he was in a good mood, and besides–nothing surprised him in wealthy families.
A non–biological daughter was hardly unusual.
“They’re setting you up with their adopted daughter?” Julian asked. “Does that even matter for you?”
“Of course it does!” Zeke groaned. “She’s only twenty years old.”
Julian smiled. “Sounds perfect. Aren’t the young ones exactly your type?”
“Quit making me sound like some player,” Zeke complained. “I’m miserable here, and you’re laughing.”
“How do you know you won’t like her if you don’t meet her? Maybe she’ll be exactly your type.”
“If it were that simple, I wouldn’t be this stressed,” Zeke said.
Julian raised an eyebrow. “What’s really going on?”
“I’ve liked a girl lately, and I was planning to ask her out,” Zeke admitted. “Now my mom hits me with this marriage alliance. How am I supposed to feel?”
“That’s great news, having someone you like,” Julian said after a moment. “But think carefully. The Jinns aren’t easy to cross. If you’re going to turn them down, be clear about it from the start. Don’t string her along and then leave her for someone else.”

“That’s exactly what I told my mom, but she says nothing’s set in stone. She wants me to meet the Jinn girl first before I decide anything.”
Julian said, “It’s simple to me. If you really like that other girl, turn the Jinns down directly. Don’t leave it vague–that’s disrespectful to both sides.”
