Now that Zeke felt more confident, he asked, “How are things going with you and Quinn? Need any help from me?”

Julian’s lips curved into a faint smile. “You’re still single. What help could you possibly give?”

Now that his own problem felt more manageable, Zeke finally noticed how different Julian seemed.

He frowned. “What’s going on with you? You look ridiculously happy.”

Julian was normally calm and composed, never letting anything rattle him.

But today, he was clearly in an excellent mood.

Julian chuckled. “It’s that obvious?”

“What’s with that look?” Zeke exclaimed in surprise. “Has the ice finally melted? It’s kind of creepy.”

Julian shot him a look. “Shut up if you don’t know what to say.”

“Wait…” Zeke thought for a second. “Did things progress between you and Quinn?”

“At least I know she doesn’t push me away. She has feelings for me.”

“No way!” Zeke said, envious. “You won her over that fast?”

“Won her over? That sounds terrible.”

“I’m just happy for you!” Zeke said.

“We’re not officially together yet,” Julian said. “I’m still pursuing her.”

Zeke thought Quinn must be one of a kind.

Who in their right mind could turn down a man like Julian?

Yet she was the one who’d stolen his heart, and even after all this time, they still weren’t official.

“I’m planning to invite the girl I like to the club tomorrow. Why don’t you bring Quinn along?”

Julian said, “She doesn’t like places like this. They’re too chaotic for her.”

Zeke laughed in disbelief. “Chaotic? This place?”

“She’s not like the girls you know.”

“Ugh…” Zeke groaned. “You’ve got it bad. Can you at least just tell me if she’ll come or not?”

“I’ll ask her,” Julian said after a moment. “But we should pick somewhere else. She really doesn’t like clubs.”

“Fine.” Zeke said. “Let’s go to the winery owned by Leo. We can hang out and have dinner there.”

Julian nodded. “Alright. I’ll ask if she’s interested.”

Zeke asked, “Seriously–if you two end up together, are you gonna let her call all the shots?”

He couldn’t picture a man like Julian obeying everything a woman said.

Julian said. “If we’re together, she’ll be my girlfriend. What’s wrong with respecting her and listening to her?”

Zeke was genuinely impressed.

Julian raised an eyebrow. “What, you don’t listen to your girlfriends?”

“Traditional roles, y’know?” he said. “We split things. I don’t just go along with everything.”

Julian said, “I’m not like you. I’ll listen to everything my girlfriend says.”

Zeke felt like he was being stuffed full. “Are you seriously showing off already?”

Julian smirked. “Not at all. We aren’t even official.”

“What are you so proud of, then?” Zeke groaned, half annoyed. “If I’m already this sick of your sappy vibes now, it’s only gonna get way worse later.”

I’m already stuffed from all this lovey–dovey nonsense.

Julian laughed. “I really wasn’t showing off.”

“Then I hope you have to chase her for a good while,” Zeke said, still bitter about his own messy love life. “I hope Quinn doesn’t say yes too easily.”

“That’s what I want too,” Julian said. “I want to court her properly, so she’s sure of how I feel, and knows how much she means to me. Girls like being pursued, right? She deserves everything other girls get–and more.”
