Chapter 308 Deep Longing

She had always thought she knew how to handle men–that no matter who they were, they’d soften at the sight of her.
But clearly, Jess was a different breed.
Worse still, he was the kind who might even steal men from her.
Rosalie snorted. “I can’t even be bothered with someone like you.”
It will be beneath me.
Jess said, “Exactly. That’s why I stick to nice people like Quinn. No one wants to hang around someone like you.”
“You!” Rosalie seethed.
Everything had been going wrong for her lately, and Jess just had to walk right into her line of fire.
“Quit stuttering. Am I wrong?”
Jess had always stood up for what was right.

He clicked with Quinn instantly, which made him dislike Rosalie all the more.
Normally, he wouldn’t argue with a girl.
But Rosalie was downright cruel, and she had bullied Quinn for years–while Quinn, gentle as she was, never fought back.
Jess wasn’t about to let that slide.
“Get lost!” Rosalie snapped, at her breaking point. “I have nothing to say to you!”
Jess scoffed.
Rosalie said, “Are you even a real man? Oh, right–I forgot. You probably never were one to begin with.”
Jess smiled faintly. “If I’m not a man, then you’re not even human.”
Name–calling like that barely scratched him.
He added, “By the way, Quinn’s really happy right now. You’d better stay out of her sight and stop ruining her mood.”
With that, he left.
Rosalie would never have known who Jess was if it weren’t for Quinn.
But he’d gone out of his way to upset her.

Chapter 308 Deep Longing
Now every random person thought they could step on her.
She was fuming!

Back in the day, if someone had upset her, she would’ve run to a male friend, complained, and subtly manipulated him into getting revenge for her.
But she didn’t have the energy for that now.
She had to swallow her anger and refocus on the restaurant entrance.
Inside the private room, after Jess left, Quinn could feel Julian’s gaze on her–warm, steady, like it wrapped around her entirely.
Julian had worked overtime abroad, cutting into his sleep every day, just to come back early and see her
sooner.
He’d landed not long before. Instead of calling Quinn directly, he’d asked Lucy and found out she was meeting Jess here.
So he’d come straight over.
He hadn’t seen her, hadn’t even heard her voice, in so long. His chest was overflowing with longing.
He’d kept his feelings locked away tightly while Quinn was still married.
But once she got divorced, he couldn’t hold back anymore.
He’d needed to see her as soon as he returned.
Even if showing up out of the blue was sudden, even a little rude, he didn’t care.
In that moment, he wasn’t some powerful, respected figure at the top of the world.
He was just a guy falling hard, with nothing but her on his mind.
He didn’t even have a plan. Just seeing her was enough.
And since he’d interrupted her meal with Jess, he hadn’t wanted to chase Jess away.
Luckily, Jess had taken the hint and left after they finished eating.
Finally, they had some time alone.
“How have you been?” Julian asked. “Everything okay? Did you go back for your checkup?”
Quinn nodded. “I did. The people you sent were very responsible. The doctor said I’ve fully recovered.”
