Chapter 313 Sweet Little Banter
She slept unusually well that night.
She knew it was because Julian’s words “I believe you” had left her feeling warm all over.
For her entire teenage life, Rosalie had controlled everything around her.
All her classmates and former friends had been won over by Rosalie.
No one had ever trusted her.
Hearing Julian say that had surprised her deeply–and touched her more than she could say.
She got up, washed up, and was about to head out.
But just as she was about to put on her shoes, her phone rang.
It was Julian.
Finished
He’d been working until nearly midnight the night before and hadn’t dared contact her, afraid she was already asleep.
He’d finally finished everything and let his entire team go home for the holiday.
He’d exercised early that morning, waited until a reasonable hour, and then called her.
Quinn answered right away.
“Up yet?” Julian asked.
Quinn hummed in response.
“Any plans for today?”
Not wanting him to worry about her spending the day alone, she quickly said, “I’m going shopping for Christmas supplies. I’m fine, really.”
“Come downstairs,” Julian said. “I’ll go with you.”
“Huh?” Quinn froze. “You’re already here?”
“I’ll be at your building in three minutes.”
Julian was already on his way.
He’d given his driver the day off too; only two bodyguards followed in the car behind.
He was driving himself today.
By the time Quinn made it downstairs, Julian had just pulled up and parked.

He stepped out of the car. Since he was driving, he’d skipped the heavy overcoat, but he was still in a sharp, tailored suit.
Other than when exercising or relaxing at home, he never dressed casually.
Quinn walked over. “You’re here.”
Julian looked at her.
She was wearing the same white down jacket with the fluffy collar, which framed her pale, delicate face beautifully.
Julian wanted to buy her so many things–clothes, jewelry, handbags.
Lucy loved that kind of stuff, so he figured Quinn might too..
But he was hesitant, afraid she wouldn’t accept them.
He could test the waters while they were Christmas shopping.
If she didn’t seem uncomfortable with it, he was going to spoil her rotten and dress her up exactly how he wanted.
Julian opened the passenger door for her. “C’mon, get in.”
Quinn sounded surprised. “You’re driving today?”
“Not happy about it?”
“Of course I am,” she said quickly.
“Relax, I’ll drive carefully,” Julian said, holding the door open. “Know how to buckle your seatbelt?”
Quinn blushed bright red. “Of course I do!”
It had just been an accident last time.
Julian didn’t move, just watched until she fastened it.
“There,” she said, then immediately felt silly. “Hurry up and get in.”
“Yep, all buckled,” Julian smiled. “Good job.”
Quinn huffed, embarrassed. “Like it’s hard or something!”
Julian laughed, closed the door, and got into the driver’s seat.
“Where to?” he asked. “Have you thought about it?”
“There’s a big supermarket nearby…” Quinn paused, realizing it would be absolutely packed around
Christmas.
It was also a regular, budget–friendly store–one Julian had probably never stepped foot in.

The thought of him squeezing through a huge crowd in his expensive clothes made her reconsider.
She searched on her phone for an upscale grocery store and showed him. “Let’s go here instead.”
Julian glanced at it. “Alright.”
But Quinn hadn’t expected that store to be just as crowded.
Everything inside seemed ridiculously expensive to her.
Yet today, people were grabbing items like they were free.
