Chapter 314 A Normal Day Together
Seeing the crowd inside, Quinn hesitated. “Maybe… we shouldn’t go in.”
Julian had already grabbed a shopping basket. “Why not?”
“There are too many people.”
“It’s fine,” he said, taking her hand. “You won’t get lost.”
Lost:
That wasn’t what she meant at all.
But that was clearly how Julian took it.
He laced his fingers through hers and smiled. “This way we’ll stick together.”
Finished
Quinn never imagined she’d one day hold hands with someone she liked, wandering a grocery store like this.
Julian carried the basket in one hand and held her tightly with the other.
As they walked through the store, Quinn could’ve sworn people were stepping aside to make way for them.
It wasn’t just her imagination.
Julian’s presence was so commanding that everyone around them instinctively moved out of his path.
People glanced at them, then quickly looked away.
They stared because the two of them were strikingly good–looking.
They looked away because the pair carried such an air of elegance and authority.
It felt like lingering too long would earn them a sharp look from Julian.
Quinn’s mind was fixed on the simple joy of shopping together.
For a moment, she imagined they were just an ordinary couple, stopping by the store after work to pick up groceries.
Then she quickly shook the thought away.
Someone like Julian could never live such a normal life, buying food and cooking meals.
But then again, he had spent several days cooking for her and Lucy himself.
Her thoughts were all over the place.
Julian squeezed her hand gently. “What are you thinking about?”

“Huh?” Quinn snapped back to reality. “What?”
“I said which one do you want?” Julian held up two pairs of slippers, one dark navy, one dark gray.
Lucy’s place didn’t have any slippers for him yet.
Quinn felt a flutter of embarrassment and pointed at one. “That one.”
“Alright.”
Finished
Julian dropped the slippers into the basket. “I don’t need anything else. Now let’s get your Christmas supplies.”
Quinn barely had a chance to voice an opinion. Julian wanted to buy everything he saw.
The upscale store had a huge variety of imported ingredients, many of which Quinn had never seen before.
“That’s enough, really…
She tugged at his arm. “I can’t eat all that by myself.”
Julian was placing a large lobster into the basket and reaching for some crabs. “Don’t worry about it.”
At that moment, Quinn didn’t fully understand what he meant.
She thought he just considered the food cheap enough to
waste,
even if it went uneaten.
But Quinn hated wasting food.
“I really can’t finish it. How much can one person eat? Besides, I don’t even know how to cook most of this.”
“We can put the leftovers in the fridge. Christmas lasts a few days–you’ll need to eat. You don’t have to cook. Just wait for me to make it.”
Quinn couldn’t argue with him–or rather, she didn’t want to argue over something so small, not during the holidays.
Just being there, shopping with him, made her happier than she could say.
After gathering food and household items, they headed toward the exit. Julian picked up a bouquet of flowers.
He’d been carrying everything else, so he handed the flowers to Quinn to hold.
Her smile, bright against the colorful blooms, made her even more beautiful.
Many people nearby were stunned by how good–looking the two of them were.
Quite a few even thought they must be celebrities.
