Ditched the Cheater, Pregnant by Mr. Righ novel Chapter 371

Chapter 371 A Hasty Proposal

Quinn panicked. “What are you doing? Get up!”

*Quinn, marry me.” Julian repeated. “I can’t wait even one more day.”

He’d originally planned a grand, fancy proposal.

But when he saw Chase, a sharp wave of urgency and fear washed over him.

For as long as he could remember, almost nothing had ever stirred his emotions.

Only Quinn could reach deep into his heart and shake it.

He was calm and confident in every part of his life-except when it came to keeping Quinn.

He needed to make her his, officially.

That way, whenever other men looked at her, he could hold her close and let everyone know she was his wife.

Quinn never expected Julian to propose so suddenly.

It was the first time he’d acted on pure impulse.

“I didn’t get anything else ready,” he said. “I’ll make it all up to you later. Quinn… will you marry me?”

Quinn was completely caught off guard.

She couldn’t just let a man like Julian stay kneeling in front of her.

She pulled at him more firmly. “Get up first.”

Julian stared into her eyes.

Quinn looked away for a second.

He lowered his gaze. A moment later, he stood up and pulled her into his arms.

“I’m sorry,” he said.

Quinn froze.

She hurried to speak, “I… I just didn’t expect it…”

She wasn’t refusing him. She just truly wasn’t ready.

They’d only been dating a short while, and Julian came from such a prominent family. She hadn’t even met any of his relatives yet.

Quinn hadn’t realized she’d overthink so much.

But the fact that she did think it all through proved she truly imagined spending her whole life with him.

Even if that future still felt far away.

“I was too hasty.” Julian said. He let her go and took her hand, leading her to the car.

Quinn saw the disappointment in his face and felt a twist of guilt. “I’m sorry…”

“You don’t have to apologize.” Julian said, gently squeezing her cheek. “I’d start to think you were turning me down.”

“I’m not…” Quinn didn’t know how to explain.

Of course she wanted to marry Julian.

But she felt there was still a long road ahead of them.

Dating was just between the two of them. She could love him without any heavy burdens.

Marriage, though, involved two entire families.

two

The Lane family might have moved to another city, but marriage was a huge event.

She couldn’t begin to guess how Elaine and the others might act if they found out.

Her family and the Sterlings were worlds apart.

Julian didn’t know exactly what was weighing on her mind, but he could tell she was upset.

He pulled her close again and apologized once more. “I wasn’t thinking. I put you on the spot.”

“It’s not that…” Quinn felt guilty and tender all at once.

The image of Julian dropping to one knee in front of her had hit her harder than she could say.

“Let’s stop thinking about it,” Julian said, kissing her lightly. “What do you want to eat?”

Quinn didn’t have much of an appetite.

The Lanes moving away left her feeling empty and unsure.

Julian’s sudden proposal left her heart floating, unsettled.

Soon May arrived, and the weather turned warm. Temperatures climbed as high as seventy-eight degrees Fahrenheit.

Julian had to go on another business trip.

Compared to before, he traveled far less now that he was with Quinn.

He simply hated being away from her.

They were deeply in love, wrapped up in each other, not wanting to spend a second apart.

Frushed

Most of that longing came from Julian, though.

Sometimes Quinn actually kind of hoped he’d leave for a few days.

Not for any complicated reason-he just had no self-control.

Long before they got together, Lucy had teased her that Julian would fall hard and fast once he caught feelings.

Quinn would be in for a lot.

Sure enough, once they were intimate, Julian couldn’t get enough. He was completely overwhelming in bed.

And Quinn had no defenses. One deep kiss from him turned her mind fuzzy, and she let herself be swept

away.

Even in good health, she couldn’t keep up with him every single day.

So Quinn secretly welcomed the occasional business trip.

But once he was actually gone, she found the loneliness unbearable.

The first day was fine. She lay alone in the huge bed, feeling free and lighthearted.

Julian called her on video, and she answered.

She flopped onto her stomach, legs lifted and feet swinging gently in the air.

She rested her chin in her hands and looked at the screen. “You’re done working?”

When Julian first got to know Quinn, she was a girl of few words, no matter the situation.

She was quiet most of the time, with a faint, lingering sadness about her.
