Chapter 61 A Public Breakdown

Chase’s voice softened, almost pleading.

“I get that, but you can’t just sentence me to death like this in one shot. Quinn…”

“That’s enough.” Quinn looked at him steadily. “For the past three years you had countless chances. I waited, again and again. And what did you do with those chances? Now you’re blaming me for not giving you another one?”

Chase rushed to explain himself.

“People always say you don’t know what you’ve got until you lose it. That’s what happened to me. When you asked for a divorce, that’s when I realized how much you actually mean to me.”

Quinn gave a small laugh.

“So what about Rosalie? You’re suddenly over her now?”

Chase shook his head quickly. “She’s your sister. I’ve always treated her like a friend, like family.”

Quinn’s eyes turned cold.

“You used to say something all the time. You said I could never compare to her.”

Chase looked flustered. “That was because you kept making me mad, I just said things without thinking. Besides, everyone has their own strengths. You should just focus on being yourself. Why are you always comparing yourself to Rosalie?”

Standing nearby, Veronica let out a short scoff.

Quinn suddenly felt exhausted.

This whole scene had gone on long enough. She had no desire to keep talking to him.

“Let’s get the divorce done,” she said. “If you don’t, I will go straight to the media and tell them everything you’ve done. I’ll make sure everyone knows exactly what kind of man you are. When your company starts taking the hit, I’m sure you understand what that means.”

“You can do that,” Chase said.

Then he dropped to his knees. Both knees hit the ground.

“I admit everything was my fault,” he said hoarsely. “But Quinn, my dad isn’t young anymore. If something happens to the company, he won’t be able to take it.”

Veronica stared at him in disbelief. “Are you serious right now? Dragging an old man into this so you can guilt–trip her?”

Chase lifted his head and looked at Quinn.

“The company doesn’t belong to me alone,” he said. “Punish me however you want, but please don’t hurt

Veronica glanced at Quinn. “Quinn, don’t fall for this. He’s doing this on purpose.”

“Divorce me,” Quinn said coldly. “As long as you agree to the divorce, I won’t tell anyone about the things you’ve done.”

“If you won’t give me another chance, I’m not getting up.” Chase stayed there on his knees. “A man doesn’t beg like this for just anyone. I’m swallowing my pride and asking you today. Doesn’t that show how serious I am?”

“You…” Quinn was so angry she could barely speak.

She had never imagined he could sink this low.

Even Veronica did not know what to do for a moment. If he refused to cooperate with the paperwork, there was nothing they could do. Even dragging him there would not help.

And there was still the mandatory waiting period. If he refused to agree, the divorce would not happen.

Veronica shook her head slightly at Quinn. Quinn understood.

There was no hope today.

When she came here earlier, she had been full of hope for the future. But this man had once again proven just how shameless he could be.

Her heart felt like it had been dropped into a bitter liquid, sour, heavy, and painfully swollen.

It hurt.

Veronica took her arm and pulled her away. The two of them turned and left.

Chase knew very well that one dramatic scene was not enough to make Quinn forgive him.

He stood up and shouted after them.

“Quinn, I’m not giving up! Watch me from now on. I’ll prove that I can love you the right way!”

Veronica rolled her eyes.

“Don’t listen to that nonsense,” she said. “Let’s just go.”

Quinn gave a quiet nod.

They got into the car.

As Veronica started the engine, she said, “If he keeps refusing to cooperate with the divorce, the only option left is taking it to court.”

Quinn looked at her. “Do you think a judge would actually approve the divorce?”

“In a lot of cases, judges try to encourage a settlement first,” Veronica explained. “They usually want

couples to work things out or reach an agreement before issuing a final ruling. If neither side backs down, the process can drag on for months.”

She paused before continuing.

“But your situation with Chase is different. He’s done some pretty serious things. If we present solid evidence and the judge finds it credible, the divorce could move forward much faster.”

Quinn focused on the part that mattered most.

“How do we prove it, though? What happened on the yacht… I don’t have any proof.”

“That’s the issue,” Veronica said. “There’s already a police report about him forcing you and assaulting you before. That can be used as supporting evidence. But if he apologizes in court and claims he’s changed, the judge might view that incident differently.”

She continued.

“If we can prove that what happened on the yacht was his doing, the case becomes much easier.”

“But how would I prove that?” Quinn said quietly. “At the time I didn’t even…”

Veronica glanced at her.

“Quinn, I know you said you didn’t want to see Julian again, but let me ask you something. Given what happened that night, could Julian testify as a witness?”

“He…” Quinn shook her head slowly. “I don’t know.”

“I think you should ask him for help.”

Quinn immediately refused. “He’s already been dragged into enough trouble because of me.”

“You don’t want the divorce?” Veronica asked.

“This situation also involves the Dixon family. If Chase refuses to admit anything, no one will dare to help

you.”
