Chapter 64 Unexpected Encounter
Finished
Working hard or dealing with a demanding schedule was one thing, but drinking at business dinners was something Quinn genuinely hated to see Lucy endure.
What worried her most was Lucy’s safety.
As soon as Quinn walked into the restaurant, she spotted Lucy immediately.
A large group had taken over a table in the main dining area. Lucy stood out instantly among them.
She was beautiful in a delicate, doll–like way, the kind of face that drew attention without trying.
It looked like she had already had quite a bit to drink. Her cheeks were flushed, and her smile had that slightly unfocused softness that came from being tipsy.
Quinn walked over and called her name.
“Lucy.”
Lucy reacted slowly. She lifted her chin and blinked a couple of times before recognition dawned.
“Quinn? What are you doing here?”
“How much have you had to drink?” Quinn asked, worry filling her voice. “You texted me asking me to come get you. Don’t tell me you already forgot?“”
Lucy shook her head clumsily. “No, I didn’t…”
A man sitting nearby looked over at Quinn.
“Lucy, is this your friend?” he asked. “Why don’t you invite her to sit down and join us?”
“No, that’s okay,” Lucy said quickly, waving her hands. “She’s not feeling well today.”
The man smirked. “What’s the matter, you think you’re too good to sit with us? Even if you don’t care about the rest of us, you should at least show some respect for Mr Lawson,”
A man in his forties sat at the head of the table. He was clearly the one in charge.
“Lucy.” Adam Lawson said with a smile, “since your friend is already here, she might as well sit down. It’ll be a good chance for everyone to get acquainted.”
“I’m really sorry, Mr. Lawson,” Lucy said nervously. “Tonight just isn’t a good night for that.”
“What, you’re turning me down now?” Adam said with a chuckle. “Why don’t we hear what your friend thinks?”
Someone at the table laughed and called out, “You don’t want your bonus this month or what?”
Another voice chimed in. “Even Mr. Lawson can’t get you to cooperate? Sounds like you don’t care about keeping this job.”

Quinn did not want Lucy to get into trouble because of her.
“It’s alright.” Quinn said. “I’ll just wait here until you’re done.”
Adam smiled immediately. “That’s more like it. Someone grab another chair.”
Quinn sat down beside Lucy,
Lucy actually had a very low tolerance for alcohol, but now that Quinn had arrived, she forced herself to stay alert.
Most of the people at the table were male coworkers. Lucy could see their reactions clearly.
Every single one of them kept glancing at Quinn with open admiration. When Zeke walked into the restaurant, he noticed Quinn right away.
Of course, he noticed Lucy too.
Both women were stunning in completely different ways.
Quinn’s beauty was striking and unforgettable.
Lucy, on the other hand, had a sweet, youthful charm that made her look almost like a doll.
Zeke had come with a friend.
After they entered their private dining room, Zeke immediately called Julian.
His friend also knew Julian. When Zeke hung up, the man asked, “Seven isn’t coming, right?”
“Normally he wouldn’t,” Zeke replied. “But tonight is different.”
His friend, Dylan Mercer, looked puzzled. “What’s so special about tonight?”
“It’s not the day that’s special,” Zeke said. “It’s the person who’s here tonight.”
“Someone special?” Dylan pointed at himself, then at Zeke. “You mean us?”
“You’ll see soon enough.”
Dylan poured him a glass of water. “Alright. By the way, did you notice that gorgeous woman when we
came in?”
Zeke was not sure which one he meant. “What does she look like?”
“She’s sitting at the table on the right side of the dining room,” Dylan said. “Long hair, black sweater, really fair skin, beautiful features. She’s seriously stunning.”
From the description alone, Zeke immediately knew he was talking about Quinn
He smiled slightly. “What, are you interested?”

Dylan laughed. “Interested? Come on, I’m engaged.”
Frihed
His engagement was a business arrangement between families, not exactly a passionate love story.
Still, he shrugged and added with a grin, “But if I wasn’t engaged, she’d definitely be my type.”
“You wouldn’t have a chance even if you weren’t engaged,” Zeke said. “Take my advice, if you ever see her again, keep your distance.”
Dylan frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean? Is she some kind of walking disaster?”
Zeke decided not to keep him guessing any longer. “Take a guess why Julian suddenly agreed to come out tonight.”
Dylan was not stupid. After thinking for a moment, his eyes widened.
“No way… you’re serious?”
“Trust me,” Zeke said. “Even the most disciplined guy eventually meets someone who changes the rules. And Julian was never that untouchable to begin with.”
Dylan laughed. “In my mind, he practically is. The guy never chases women, never loses control, never seems to want anything at all.”
“Alright, alright,” Zeke interrupted. “The reason he used to be like that was simple. He hadn’t met the right woman yet. Now that he has, trust me, he’s not nearly as detached as you think.”
Dylan thought about the breathtaking girl he had seen earlier and nodded slowly.
“If you’re talking about that woman, I can believe it. She definitely has the kind of charm that could make even Seven fall. Which family does she belong to? I don’t remember seeing her before.”
Zeke suddenly remembered that Quinn was still technically married.
The truth would probably come out eventually. But for now, the longer it stayed hidden, the better.
Quinn had not divorced yet. If rumors started linking her with Julian, it would only damage her reputation.
The two of them continued chatting while they waited.
But even after half an hour passed, Julian still had not arrived.
