“You don’t need to be so sarcastic with me,” Rosalie said. “Look at the Sterling family’s status. The fact that you married into that family already makes you lucky.”
“But I didn’t marry him because of his last name,” Quinn replied. “Just like our parents. If any of you had even a little real affection for me, you wouldn’t still be trying to push me to stay with him after everything that’s happened.”
“Quinn, why are you so unrealistic?” Rosalie said. “Do you think most women marry for love? Ninety–nine percent marry for practicality. And what does practicality mean? Money. Only one percent marry for love. Do you really think you’re going to be that lucky?”
“That’s my business,” Quinn replied calmly. “Instead of worrying about me, you should focus on running your own little school and shaping your perfect man.”
Quinn hung up the phone.
Rosalie was so angry she nearly threw her phone across the room. Quinn had completely stopped listening to her.
In the past, a few
refully chosen words from her could leave Quinn miserable for days.
And watching Quinn suffer had always satisfied her.
Because whenever she remembered the years she had been kidnapped and taken away from home, hatred surged through her chest.
She hated the traffickers who had ruined her life.
She hated the ignorant villagers who had helped them.
But most of all, she hated Quinn.
Quinn had stepped into her place after she disappeared, taking her parents, her home, and the happy life that should have belonged to her.
Quinn had been nothing but an orphan.
Yet somehow she had become the daughter of a respected college professor.
If Rosalie had never come back, would Quinn have remained their only child forever?
Would all of their inheritance eventually have gone to Quinn?
Then what would that make her? Luckily she had returned. Her parents‘ love for her had only grown
stronger.
But what about the suffering she had endured all those years?
Was she supposed to just forget it? Of course not. She would take everything back from Quinn.

Now her good days were finally coming. As long as she married Julian, her life would never face obstacles again.
And Quinn?
Quinn would remain stuck there for the rest of her life, never able to move forward.
Rosalie sent Chase a message.
Rosalie texted. “You need to be more sincere. Try harder to win her over. Women are easy to soften. Buy flowers, get her some gifts, show some care. Sooner or later it’ll work.”
After reading the message, Chase’s confidence surged.
He bought another bouquet of flowers along with several gifts and went to find Quinn.
Quinn was helping Lucy pack. Most of what they were packing were everyday items and some clothes.
Lucy asked, “Quinn, once we move to the new place and have more space, when are you going to bring your things over?”
Quinn replied, “I actually don’t have much. Everything in that house belongs to the Sterling family. I don’t want to go back there right now. After the divorce is finalized, I’ll go back and collect my things.”
“Alright,” Lucy said immediately. “I’ll go with you when that time comes.”
“Okay.”
Compared with Rosalie, Lucy’s friendship felt even more precious.
“Lucy,” Quinn said softly, “thank you for staying with me during all this.”
“You idiot,” Lucy said as she hugged her. “What kind of friendship do we have? Didn’t we say before that if neither of us gets married, we’ll grow old together?”
Quinn laughed. “You’ll definitely get married someday. But if that day ever comes, we can absolutely grow old together.”
“Deal,” Lucy said happily. “You’re basically my sister anyway. Look at me, I’m close with my cousins, and I’m sure we’ll stay just as close in the future. Seven actually treats me pretty well even though he looks intimidating. He even bought me a house.”
Hearing Julian’s name, Quinn simply gave a quiet response. “Mm.”
Lucy continued, “By the way, Quinn, have you figured out what kind of outfit you’re going to make for him?”
Quinn had not even thought about it lately.
She shook her head. “Not yet”
“Seven is practically an old–fashioned professor,” Lucy said. “Honestly, I’ve never seen him wear anything
other than formal suits.”

Lucy nudged Quinn with her elbow. “Quinn, what if you designed something bold and stylish for him?”
“Bold? Stylish?” Quinn frowned. “How does any of that fit him?”
“That’s exactly why it would be fun,” Lucy said excitedly. “He has an amazing figure. Don’t you want to see what he’d look like in something different? Imagine replacing a runway model with my cousin. A deep V shirt, something sheer, maybe a fitted cut. It would look incredible.”
A vivid image suddenly formed in Quinn’s mind.
A tall man walking down a runway with powerful presence and intense eyes.
He strode forward confidently. The deep V shirt hung open at the chest, tucked casually into his pants. revealing glimpses of defined abs beneath the fabric.
Abs?
Her mind suddenly flashed back.
That night on the yacht, she had accidentally touched Julian’s abs.
“Quinn? Quinn!”
Quinn snapped back to reality.
Lucy stared at her with confusion. “What happened to you? Your face keeps turning red and pale, and you’re even sweating.”
