Chapter 76 Someone Is Jealous

Back on the yacht, Gunnar had already noticed the difference in the way Julian treated Quinn.

It had been obvious that Julian paid special attention to her.

“Focus on the solution,” Julian said calmly. “The rest is none of your business.”

Even though Julian did not say anything directly, Gunnar had already understood the situation.

A man like Julian would never involve himself in someone else’s emotional problems unless that person mattered to him.

Julian added. “Prescribe something else.”

Gunnar looked confused. “I already gave you medication.”

“I want IV treatment.”

Gunnar stared at him for a second. “With your physical condition, that’s completely unnecessary.”

Then realization suddenly dawned on him.

A slow grin spread across his face.

“Well, look at that,” he said with amusement. “Never thought I’d see the day.” He nodded. “Fine, I’ll arrange it.”

Meanwhile Lucy had taken Quinn to the same room they used the last time.

A nurse arrived shortly afterward and began setting up the IV. Quinn had always been a little afraid of needles.

But in the more than twenty years she had been alive, she had rarely experienced anyone showing genuine care for her.

People who grow up without much love tend to believe they are not allowed to complain.

Lucy sat beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“Hey, don’t look at the needle.” Lucy said gently. “It’ll be done before you know it.”

room.

From the hallway he could clearly see Lucy hugging Quinn.

Lucy reached up and pinched Quinn’s earlobe playfully before lightly squeezing her cheek.

“Quinn, how is your skin so nice?” Lucy said with admiration. “Seriously, it’s ridiculously soft.”

Then she leaned forward and planted a loud kiss on Quinn’s cheek. Back when they were in college, Lucy used to joke around like this all the time.

Every single time Quinn would turn bright red from embarrassment. Today Quinn barely had the strength to react. Her whole body felt weak and heavy.

“Lucy, stop messing around,” she murmured softly. “I’m exhausted.”

Lucy seemed perfectly satisfied after stealing that kiss. She carefully helped Quinn lie down on the bed.

“Alright, get some rest. I’m going to…”

She stood up. Then suddenly froze.

A tall figure stood silently in the doorway.

“Seven!”

Lucy nearly jumped. Quinn forced herself to glance toward the door.

Julian stood there with a dark expression. His jaw was tight and his gaze was sharp.

The displeasure on his face was impossible to miss.

Lucy felt a nervous jolt in her chest. What’s going on with him?

He looked like he was ready to start a fight with someone.

“Hey… Seven?” Lucy said cautiously. “You’re still here?”

It took real courage for her to say that.

Julian’s cold gaze moved away from Lucy. Then it briefly landed on Quinn.

Quinn immediately lowered her eyes again. The room had two beds.

Without saying a word, Julian walked inside and sat down on the empty one. Behind him, his bodyguard caught the suit jacket he had just removed.

Julian lowered his gaze and began unfastening his cufflinks.

His long fingers moved slowly over the sapphire cufflinks, and the pale tone of his skin reflected a cool glow that almost rivaled the shine of the gemstone itself.

“Seven?” Lucy asked again.

She could clearly tell he was angry. Very angry.

“You okay?”

Julian casually placed the cufflinks on the bedside table. His bodyguard positioned a pillow behind him.

Julian leaned back against it without hesitation.

Lucy stared at him in disbelief. Julian had always been extremely particular about cleanliness.

He was not obsessive to a ridiculous degree, but she had never seen him casually lie down on a bed outside his own home.

Just then the nurse entered with a tray.

Lucy watched in shock as the nurse prepared an IV for Julian as well.

She leaned closer and whispered, “Seven, why are you getting an IV too? Gunnar said your cold wasn’t

serious.”

At that moment Julian found Lucy extremely irritating.

“Don’t you have work today?” he asked coldly.

Lucy immediately brightened. “Oh, the company I work for is under investigation right now. Everything’s chaos.”

Julian replied calmly, “Then find another job.”

“Well, Quinn’s sick,” Lucy said. “I need to stay with her.”

“There are doctors and nurses here,” Julian said. “She doesn’t need you hovering over her. Go handle your own responsibilities.”

The message was obvious.

He was trying to send Lucy away.

Lucy might normally feel a little intimidated by him, but there was no way she would leave Quinn alone while she had a fever.

“Seven,” Lucy said stubbornly, “Quinn’s temperature was almost one hundred and two earlier. I’m staying here to take care of her.”
