Chapter 82 Too Close
If Quinn did not want to explain, Lucy was prepared to go ask Julian herself.
Even if Julian scared her a little, she was not going to let her best friend get bullied.
But honestly, Lucy had clearly seen Quinn leaning toward Julian earlier.
Could Julian have threatened her somehow?

Quinn spoke. “It was nothing, really. When I got out of bed I felt dizzy for a second. Seven reached out to steady me…”
She briefly explained what had happened.
Lucy finally understood.
“So it was an accident. I always thought scenes like that only happened in cheesy TV dramas. Turns out it can happen in real life.” She blinked at Quinn. “But your reaction was pretty intense.”
Quinn shook her head slowly. “I don’t know. I didn’t even process it. I just suddenly felt sick.”
Lucy’s heart ached for her.
“Don’t think about it anymore. Close your eyes and get some rest.”
After a moment Quinn said softly, “Lucy, if I still need IV treatment tomorrow, I’d like to change rooms. Or maybe move to a general ward.”
“There’s no way you’re going to the general ward,” Lucy said quickly because she understood exactly what Quinn meant. “Don’t worry. I’ll talk to Seven and make sure he stays away from this room. Honestly it’s weird anyway. He never comes here normally. Dr. Harrison usually visits him at home. I have no idea why he showed up today.”
Quinn said nothing. She did not know why Julian had come either.
Or maybe she simply did not want to think about what it meant. Lucy waited until Quinn closed her eyes. then quietly slipped out of the room.
Julian was still in Gunnar’s office.
Gurinar sighed first. “What exactly did you do to that poor girl? Her reaction was pretty severe.”
Julian’s expression was cold and his voice even colder. He clearly did not want to talk.
But the problem had to be addressed, so he reluctantly explained what had happened.
After listening, Gunnar nodded slowly.
“That explains it. She’s having a strong stress response.”
Julian had heard Veronica mention before that some of her clients developed a strong aversion to men

after similar experiences, sometimes even losing all interest in intimacy.
Quinn’s condition might be even more serious than that.
Julian had never imagined that someone could react to him with such intense rejection,
When Quinn ran to the bathroom and started vomiting earlier, he had been completely stunned.
Only afterward did he realize the truth.
She had reacted like that because she had been close to him. Because she had touched him.
At first he had not believed the situation was this serious.
Deep down he had always been confident that no matter what Quinn had gone through, he would eventually help her recover.
What had happened earlier had hit him hard.

Gunnar spoke again, “This kind of psychological reaction is outside my field. You still have my junior colleague’s contact information, right? Talk to him. I can’t treat this.”
Just then Lucy appeared in the doorway.
She looked serious, a little puffed up with determination.
“Seven, are you… coming back tomorrow for IV treatment?”
Originally Julian had planned to approach Quinn slowly and carefully until she stopped feeling so uneasy around him.
Today had shattered that plan. And it proved something else. His plan would not work.
“I won’t be coming back,” he said.

Lucy had been preparing herself to ask him not to share a room with Quinn.
Now that he said he would not come at all, her mood instantly improved.
“Really? That’s great.”
Julian glanced at her. Lucy immediately straightened up.
“I mean, that’s great because it means you’re feeling better. I’m happy for you.”
Julian ignored her completely and stood. “Take good care of her.”
Lucy suddenly had an idea. Her cousin was Julian. Women practically threw themselves at him all the time, and he usually avoided them like the plague.
But today Quinn had accidentally kissed his forehead.
Not only had he not been angry, he had been deeply concerned about her.

Lucy hurried after him.

“I really should find another job soon,” she said casually, “That last company collapsed, but I can always get hired somewhere else. I should stop wasting time and start working again.”
Julian stopped walking and looked at her with calm indifference. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”
Lucy immediately backed down. “Seven, I’m kidding. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Quinn.”
Julian pulled out his phone and tapped the screen a few times. “Make sure she eats.”
Lucy’s phone chimed.
She pulled it out and her eyes lit up.
Julian had just transferred a huge amount of money to her. It was even more than the holiday money their father usually gave her.
Her spending money for the entire year was basically secured.
“Mission accepted.”
Lucy returned to the hospital room. Quinn was on the phone.
The caller was Victor. Quinn still felt awful. Her head was heavy and foggy, and her stomach throbbed faintly.
She answered with a hoarse voice.

“Dad.”

Victor spoke immediately, “Where are you right now? Come home for a bit.”
“I’m sick and getting IV treatment,” Quinn said. “Did you need something?”
“You’re sick? Is it serious?”
“It’s just a fever from a cold.”
“A cold isn’t a real illness,” Victor said dismissively. “Finish the IV and come home.”
