Ditched the Cheater, Pregnant by Mr. Righ novel Chapter 86

Chapter 86 An Absurd Proposal

Chase stepped forward and gently comforted Elaine.

Fuished

“Mom, please don’t be upset,” he said. “Quinn’s just overwhelmed right now. This whole situation is my fault. I made her angry. Please don’t make yourself sick over this.”

Elaine looked rouched.

“Chase, I really couldn’t ask for a better son-in-law. It’s just my daughter…” She sighed deeply.

Quinn let out a cold laugh.

“So the kind of son-in-law who tries to trade his wife to another man makes you proud. I truly have nothing left to say.” She shrugged faintly. “Fine then. I’m the one who isn’t good enough for him, right?”

“Stop nitpicking.” Elaine snapped. “Aside from that one mistake, what exactly is wrong with Chase? He already apologized to you. What more do you want?”

Her voice rose as she continued.

“Do you honestly think someone with your background could find a husband like Chase again? If it weren’t for our family, he wouldn’t have married you in the first place.”

Victor chimed in as well.

“Men make mistakes all the time. What matters is that they recognize it and correct themselves. Don’t push things too far. When someone gives you a way to move forward, you should accept it.”

Quinn nodded slowly.

“You’re right,” she said. “I’m clearly not good enough for him. I’m unreasonable, immature, and completely impossible to deal with. How could someone like me deserve such a wonderful husband?”

Then she turned to Chase.

“So let’s

get

divorced.”

Her body still had not fully recovered.

When she left earlier, Lucy had checked her temperature. It was still ninety-nine point seven degrees Fahrenheit.

Her entire body felt weak and uncomfortable.

And yet she had to stand here listening to them mock her and tear her down. What kind of parents who truly loved their daughter would knowingly push her into something like that?

Victor waved a hand impatiently.

“Talking to her is like talking to a brick wall. It doesn’t matter what you say, I will never agree to this divorce.”

Elaine added. “The real world isn’t as simple as you think. You’re only saying these things because you haven’t experienced how harsh life can be.”

Quimi asked quietly, “Lasked you this before. If everything that happened to me had happened to Rosalie instead, would you still refuse to let her get divorced?”

Elaine frowned.

“Why do you keep making those kinds of comparisons? That situation would never happen.”

Chase also looked displeased.

“If it were Rosalie, she would understand me,” he said. “You went through something unpleasant, but that has nothing to do with her. Don’t take your frustration out on her.”

Victor grew increasingly irritated.

“If I had known you would turn out like this, I would have let Rosalie marry Chase from the beginning. She went abroad for your happiness, and now you’re talking about divorce. Do you have any idea how unfair that is to her?”

Back then, when Rosalie decided to study overseas, both Victor and Elaine had been reluctant to let her go. Especially because they believed Rosalie had stepped aside for Quinn’s happiness.

Chase was such a promising young man.

Deep down, they had always hoped Rosalie would be the one to marry him. Why should Quinn have taken that place?

And now, after everything. Quinn showed no gratitude. Instead she wanted a divorce.

Victor grew angrier the more he thought about it.

“If Rosalie were here, a son-in-law like Chase wouldn’t even be your opportunity! Even now, I still believe Rosalie is the only one truly worthy of him!”

Chase’s eyes lit up immediately. “Dad!”

Sometimes when a situation becomes absurd enough, the only reaction left is laughter.

Quinn’s lips curved slightly.

“If that’s the case, then divorcing me solves your problem perfectly, doesn’t it?” she said. “Give this wonderful man to your outstanding daughter. I’m clearly not worthy.”

With that, she turned and walked out.

Elaine started to call after her, but Victor grabbed her arm. After Quinn left, Victor turned toward Chase.

“Tell me something honestly,” he said. “Do you still have feelings for Rosalie?”

Chase answered without hesitation, “The person I’ve always liked is Rosalie.”

Elaine immediately grew anxious.

“What are you saying? He’s Rosalie’s brother-in-law now. No matter what, that kind of thing would sound Jerrible if people found out. What would everyone say about our family?”

Victor waved off her concern.

“This is their life, not the neighbors. Why should we care about gossip? Besides, Chase originally liked Rosalie. If Rosalie hadn’t stepped aside back then, Quinn never would have married him. Now Quinn wants a divorce anyway. When that happens…”

He paused before continuing.

“We can simply say Quinn realized she took her sister’s boyfriend years ago and now understands that forcing a relationship never works. So she decided to correct her mistake and let Rosalie and Chase be together.”

Elaine considered it carefully.

The more she thought about it, the more reasonable it sounded.

“Well…”

Chase quickly added, “That’s exactly what happened. I confessed to Rosalie first back then. She was the one who turned me down.”

“But even so,” Elaine said uneasily, “they’re still sisters. It doesn’t sound right.”

Chase was thinking about something else entirely.

“Dad, Mom, before anything else, we would need Rosalie to agree to it. I have no problem with it at all. I never loved Quinn in the first place, which is why things ended up like this. But if it were Rosalie, I would treat her the way she deserves.”

Elaine nodded reassuringly.

“We believe you. What happened before wasn’t entirely your fault anyway. Quinn shares responsibility

too.”

At that moment, Chase felt like coming here today had been the best decision he could have made.

If he really had a chance to be with Rosalie, he would not care about Quinn at all.

Victor made the decision immediately.

“Call Rosalie right now.”

When Rosalie answered the phone and finally understood what they were suggesting, she was completely

stunned.
