Escaping the Alpha, Claimed in the End novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Amelia’s POV

The guards stepped forward, hands reaching for me. I stumbled back against the healer’s table, my pulse pounding in my

cars.

“Stop this madness!”

The new voice cut through the uproar like a blade.

Dr. Merrick burst into the room, coat streaked with blood, eyes blazing. “Has everyone lost their senses?”/

The guards hesitated mid-step. The elders turned, clearly annoyed.

“Merrick,” one snapped, “stay out of this. You have no say in pack justice.”

The doctor’s jaw tightened. “No say?” He strode past them, standing between me and the circle of guards. “You’re about to murder the very person who saved your Alpha’s life.”

“She brought this disaster upon us!” the eldest elder shot back. “The Alpha lies half-dead because of her! She’s a curse, not a savior.”

Dr. Merrick’s eyes flashed. “A curse? You blind fools wouldn’t know a blessing if it bit you.”

Gasps rippled through the room, but Merrick didn’t flinch. “That girl,” he said, pointing at me, “isn’t just a wolf. She’s sacred. A wolf goddess-born once in a thousand years. Her blood carries the Moon’s power itself.”

The hall fell into stunned silence.

“What nonsense is this?” the elder scoffed. “You expect us to believe such a tale?”

“It’s no tale,” Merrick said firmly. “I’ve tested her blood myself.”

The elders exchanged uneasy looks. One finally sneered. “You expect us to trust your word? Prove it.”

Merrick exhaled, reached into his coat pocket, and pulled out a small glass vial. My heart twisted when I realized what it was -blood, deep crimson, glinting faintly under the torchlight. My blood.

He looked around the room, voice steady. “If you doubt me, see for yourselves.”

He turned toward one of the healers. “Bring me that withered leaf from the medicine shelf.”

A young healer hesitated, then fetched a dry, brown blade of grass from a jar-a plant that had clearly long been dead. Merrick placed it carefully on the table, uncorked the vial, and poured a single drop of blood onto it.

The effect was instant.

The brown veins of the leaf pulsed once, then again, glowing faintly before color bled back into it. Within seconds, the brittle edges softened, the green spreading across the surface like a slow flame. The leaf unfurled itself-alive.

The healers gasped. Even the guards stepped back, staring wide-eyed.

The eldest elder’s hand trembled slightly before he masked it behind

weaker now.

“Some trick,” he said, though his voice was

“No trick,” Merrick replied. “You saw it. Her blood restores life. The Moon chose her-whether we like it or not.”

der what they had witnessed.

Finally, the eldest one lifted his head. “If what you say is true, then her blood should heal our Alpha.”

Merrick nodded. “That’s exactly what I intend to prove.”

Another elder stepped forward slowly. “And if it fails?”

Merrick hesitated. “Then I’ll accept the council’s

judgment.”

The eldest elder looked down at me, his And her?”

Merrick’s expression tightened. “Then you can do as you wish.”

The words made my stomach turn. But I said nothing.

The eldest elder raised his hand to silence the other.

“So

e it. With the consent of this council, we authorize the test.”

He turned to the guards. “Fetch the injured from the hall. Bring them here.”

A few moments later, the wounded were carried in-pack warriors, bruised and bloodied, and Ryder among them, pale but breathing.

Merrick met my gaze. “It’s your choice,” he said softly. “If you’re truly at I believe you are… your blood will save them.”

My throat tightened. I nodded once.
