Chapter 76

Chapter 76

AMELIA’s POV

“It’s the full moon soon.” I said to Ryder a couple of nights away from the full moon.

We were in bed, preparing to sleep, and he pulled me close for a snuggle.

“Yeah, it is. But you don’t have to worry about it. You’ve been able to control your transformation lately.”

“Yes, it’s a huge relief, to be honest. Otherwise, I would have to worry about who would take care of Noah while we brok bones out there.”

He pressed a kiss to my temple and sighed sleepily, “Now you don’t have to worry about that. Or is there something else has you troubled?”

I pressed my lips together and considered telling him about the uneasy feeling I’d been having lately. But I didn’t want to upset him.

It was probably just me worrying about an end to the good things in our lives. It was probably just nothing.

“No, nothing.” I whispered and held on to him, “Everything is okay.”

Days later, the full moon came, and the worry I pushed aside days ago reared its ugly head. And this time around, it actually had grounds to fester.

“we’re under attack.” Ryder said, only a few hours before the crest of the full moon. He paced the room several times, before stopping to look at me, his eyes clouded with worry.

“Are you sure? It could be a force alarm.” I said, trying to be hopeful, but he shook his head.

“I sent out my beta to check the borders of the pack land and he saw them-Jasper’s/men. They looked ready for an ambush. He believes their going to strike tonight.”

“But it’s the night of the full moon. All of the warrior’s strength would be completely focused on their shift. They would be vulnerable. If they are attacked right then, they could get hurt.”

“I know.” Ryder whispered and looked out through the window, “it’s why I want our men to go out to meet them. Perhaps we can get the fight over and done with before the moon reaches its apex and they have to turn.”

I nodded slowly, but I clearly saw the risk of the situation.

Jasper had perfectly timed his ambush, and I worried that Jasper’s men would hold on right until our men had to shift.

Ryder strode toward me and held my face in hands, “All of our good men would be with me tonight. Will you be okay here alone?”

“Of course.” I whispered and held his hands, “Don’t worry about me and Noah. We’ll keep each other safe. You just focus on defeating Jasper and his men. Noah and I will still be here when you come back.” I smiled up at him to reassure him,

“Promise.”

He sighed. He didn’t look like he really wanted to go, but he nodded nonetheless.

“Okay.” He leaned down and kissed my forehead, “I’ll be back before you know it.”

“I know. Be safe.”

He kissed my lips before walking to Noah’s crib. After bending low to kiss him, he gave me one gentle look and then left.

Meanwhile, despite how brave I wanted to be. I couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling in my chest that something bad was going to happen.

So I walked over and picked Noah out of his crib and held him close.

“Daddy will be back soon. In the meantime, you and I have to look out for each other.” I whispered to him while he slept soundly.

At the very least, one of us could feel at ease.

CAMILLE’s pov

“The men and I are going out to deal with Ryder. In the meantime, I want you to go to Amelia and deal with that wretched pup of hers.”

“Okay.” I said happily and rose.

Before he left, he handed me a dagger, with a grim expression on her face.

“Ryder and his men are coming. Seems like they want to attack us before the full moon. But they are in for a treat.”

“And this dagger?”

“It’s for Amelia. Make sure you injure her. Don’t kill her. Just make sure she suffers. It would be her punishment for having the audacity to have another Alpha’s pup.”

I smiled as I took the knife, “Nothing would make me happier.”

I waited till a good chunk of Ryder’s warrior’s had left the pack house and the coast was clear before I made my way to Amelia’s room.

“Ryder?” I heard her murmur when I had stood outside her door for a bit too long.

“Not Ryder.” I whispered and pushed the door with all of my strength.

“You.” she whispered when she saw me and an evil smirk spread across my lips

“Me.” I said and took two slow strides into my room.

“What the hell are you doing here?” she snapped and immediately rushed to stand between her and the pup’s crib.

“Amelia…” I sighed, “You’re no fool. And the truth, it wasn’t so hard to get in here, considering that all your warriors have gone out to fight Jasper’s men.”

“How would you know that?” she gasped, and my smile just deepened.

“Think Amelia. Use that mind of yours.”

“You’re with him, aren’t you? All of this is a setup.”

“Ding ding!” I exclaimed, and clapped, “And to think that I planned all of this .It came together so perfectly!”

“What the hell? Why are you doing this?”

“Because of your brat!” I snapped, pointing at the pup’s crib. He was awake now, shuffling in his crib, “That boy can’t live, you knew that. But you were too stubborn and refused to terminate him.”

You’re crazy.”

Maybe so. But by the end of tonight, I would have amended your wrongs I spat, and advanced at her with full speed.

She struggled against me and tried to block me from getting any close to the crib, but I bit into her flesh and when she howled in pain injected me with wolfsbane.

“No, no,” she cried, as the wolfsbane entered into her bloodstream, but I simply tossed her to the ground as weakn possessed her.
