Escaping the Alpha, Claimed in the End novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Chapter 78

RYDER’s POV

“Amelia?” I peered into her eyes while she looked at me like I was some stranger, and right then I truly felt like myself.

“Who a-are you?” Amelia asked, confirming the thing I feared to be true.

She really didn’t recognize me.

I turned numbly to the healer and whispered brokenly, “What’s going on?”

The healer quickly walked forward and I scooted away so that he could check Amelia.

“It’s strange, Alpha Ryder.”The healer said after observing her. “But I think the Luna has lost her memory.”

I pressed my lips together and said nothing. But on the inside, I was screaming.

“Amelia…” I whispered, turning back to look at her hollow expression, “It’s me. It’s Ryder.”

“Ry…der?” she asked slowly, and quickly shook her head like she was refusing something. “No… please no.”

“Hey, hey. You’re safe, it’s okay, just calm down.” I cooed, in hopes that when she was calm, I could use the telepathy from our mate bond to try to reach her. “Try to relax. Perhaps when you calm down, the memories will begin to flood back.”

I so desperately hoped I was right.

“No.” She cried and turned somewhat hysterical, “My puppy, give me back my puppy. Someone took my puppy! Give him back!” She screamed and tugged her hand free from mine, before backing into the corner of the bed.

“Amelia, It’s me, it’s Ryder.” I said softly. I tried to reach for her again, but she swatted my hand away.

“You stay away from me.” She said and began to cry, “I just want my puppy. Someone took from him, I just want him back.”

Seeing her this way completely shattered me and I turned to the healer for help.

“what do we do?”

“She remembers her puppy, so I believe this might be a case of selective amnesia. Possibly caused by the trauma she experienced a couple of days ago.”

“But she doesn’t remember me.” I said, and saying it out loud made me feel even more desperate and helpless.

It made it feel more real.

My son got stolen, and now I did not even have the comfort of my wife, because she’s no longer in her right mind. This entire ordeal really made me feel like my life suddenly had no meaning.

“Perhaps we should give it time, Alpha.” The healer said delicately and I laughed coldly.

“Time?”

“Yes, of course. This amnesia is probably her mind’s way of protecting her from the trauma she faced. In the meantime, I could speak to our pack witch. Together, we would figure out how to help Amelia out of this ordeal. I’m sure we will be able

to find a solution.”

The healer sounded hopeful, and as unfortunate and as depressing as the situation was, I dared to hope as well.

Chapter 78

But the spark of hope didn’t erase the pain I felt from seeing Amelia as she was now.

I turned back to her, and tried to smile, but it fell short.

“We’re going to do our best to help you, Amelia. I swear it.” But she didn’t respond.

Instead, her face contorted in pain, and she suddenly clasped her chest with her hand, as though she felt a deep ache from within.

“Amelia? Are you okay?” I asked, reaching for her hand, but she only kept staring ahead in pain.

I turned to the healer, “What’s going on now?”

When he stepped forward and touched her, he only shook his head, “I don’t feel any kind of physical pain, whatever she feels must be inward.”

“Inward?” I murmured and that was when it hit me.

My mother had always told me about how mothers could feel when their pups were in trouble. She said it came like an indescribable ache, in the center of their chest.

I supposed that’s what Amelia was feeling now.

I reached for her, in a bid to give her comfort, and she let out a low whimper.

“It’s okay.” I whispered, when she let me hold her, “Everything is going to be okay.”

But was it?

I had no idea where my son actually was, and right at that moment, he was possibly unsafe. So I couldn’t even believe my own words.

JASPER’S POV

Killing Amelia’s child was not as easy as I envisioned. The pup was exceptionally powerful and managed to push back at every attempt I used to destroy him.

Instead, I was forced to watch him grow and in only a couple of days, the puppy which was merely an infant when Camille

old. brought him now looked like a kid of four or five years

“Is this even normal?” Camille asked me, the first morning we discovered his sudden growth sprout.

“For some reason, I’m not even shocked. The knife I wanted to use to stab all but melted in my hand. And he was just an infant! I exclaimed, while we watched the boy eat.

“What do we do with him now?” Camille asked, sounding a bit scared.

“He’s powerful. I think we can use that to our advantage. You just have to win him over

“Me?” Camille asked incredulously and I rolled my eyes at her.

“Yes, you.” I said and began to turn away from her, “Find out what he can do, and learn all the ways we can use it for ourselves.

Later that day, Camille reported to me that the boy was strong enough to turn her into a terribly strong wolf. According to

“Then why hasn’t he done so already?” I asked dryly.”

“because he doesn’t trust me.” Camille ground out in frustration, “I told him I was his mother, but he refuted the fact Claimed we had no telepathic connection”

“Got to hand it to him. He’s smart,” I said and rose from the bed. I needed to see the kid’s abilities for myself.

“Where are you going?” Camille asked, following behind me.

“To set the kid straight. He wants to live, then he must abide by my rules. Call our witch immediately.”

When the witch arrived, I showed him to the little boy.

“Hello,” Noah said to me, while he cautiously eyed the witch.
