While still walking back home, I slowed down, when I saw a group of people all moving together, heading in down the toward the end of the street.

“Now, what could be going on down there?” I murmured, holding Noah closer to me.

“Maybe it’s a party?” Noah suggested. His eyes sparkled with curiosity, and he craned his neck to see ahead of us.

“It’s possible.” I considered, “I mean they are all happily moving in that direction, so what else could it be?”

“Do you want to go check?” Noah asked excitedly and I thought about it for a moment, before shrugging.

Truthfully, I should have returned home. Ryder would probably be sick with worry, when he woke and found us gone.

But the light in Noah’s face made it hard to refuse him.

“Well, I guess it won’t hurt.”

So holding on tighter to his hand so that we wouldn’t be torn apart, we followed the direction of the crowd.

Her words tumbled out in a rush in a rush of excitement. She was breathless and her eyes widened at the possibility of witnessing a moment of history unfold.

“Oh, I see. Then it is a big event.”

“you got that right!” the woman exclaimed and quickly rushed over to the venue.

“Well, Noah, what do you say? Do you want to go watch the princess of the Thunderstorm pack pick her mate?”

Noah shrugged, “Let’s just stay a while and watch.”

“Alright then.” I agreed and made our way.

When we got to the venue, it didn’t take long before I caught a whiff of Ryder’s scent, and I found myself looking for him among the crowd.

“Is everything okay, mum?” Noah asked when he saw me looking round and round.

“It’s just-

My stomach dropped before my mind could catch up and I felt irritation rear its head at the princess’s behaviour.

“I knew you were here.”

“He must have been looking for us,” Noah muttered and I nodded.
