Declan only spoke up to win a smile from the beauty and score some points with Xavier. But when he saw the person who turned around, he was so startled the cigarette dropped from his mouth, burning a hole right through his suit jacket.

Declan didn't even care, stammering, "E... Evelyn!"

As Xavier's close friends, they all knew Evelyn's identity. Even though everyone knew Xavier didn't like her, she was still Mrs. Farrell and the only granddaughter-in-law officially acknowledged by Karl.

So the current situation was: Xavier came to back up his mistress, who had just rear-ended his own wife. What kind of dramatic nightmare was this?

Evelyn nodded and looked at Xavier. "I called Carter on my way here. He said your grandpa stopped coughing, so there's no need to worry anymore."

Xavier gave a hum, his expression softening slightly.

Xavier's father passed away early, and he wasn't close to his mother. He was raised entirely by Karl, and they shared a deep bond. Now that Karl was getting older, Xavier always worried whenever he had the slightest ache or pain.

After briefly updating him on Karl's condition, Evelyn gave a slight nod to the other men and prepared to leave with Abby.

But before they could walk away, the girl named Minnie blocked them, saying arrogantly, "You can't leave! You hit my car, haven't apologized, and haven't paid me. This isn't over!"

Evelyn nodded. "It really isn't over. The repairs will be five hundred thousand. Remember to wire it to my bank account."

Minnie was furious. "Are you robbing me?! You want five hundred thousand?!"

Abby sneered. "Evelyn drives a Bentley. A car of that caliber being smashed by you will cost at least hundreds of thousands to repair. Plus, you gave her a fright. Asking for five hundred thousand is letting you off easy. You're not saying you can't afford it, are you?"

"Who says I can't afford it?"

"Then are you paying by bank transfer, or a mobile payment app? Either works." Abby pulled up her phone.
