Evelyn struggled, but she couldn't break free. "Where are you taking me? Felicity and Abby are still at the club."
"Ronan arranged for someone to look after them."
Hearing this, Evelyn stopped fighting him.
When she followed Xavier out of the club, his Rolls-Royce was already waiting by the curb.
Evelyn got into the car and saw Ronan in the driver's seat. She immediately gave him Abby's address.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Farrell. They'll make sure Ms. Abby Leland gets home safely."
Evelyn was just about to thank him when a heavy object was tossed into her lap. She looked at the catalog-like booklet in confusion. "What's this?"
"Open it and see."
She obediently opened it. Inside were photos of young men, all around twenty years old. They were handsome, charming, sweet boy-next-door types—every kind of man you could possibly want was in there.
Evelyn looked at Xavier, utterly baffled. "Why are you showing me this?"
"Tell me which one you like, or you can call Ronan directly and he'll set it up for you." Xavier stared at her, enunciating every word. "Do not mess with Julian. He is not a man you can handle."
Evelyn's mind went blank. When the meaning of Xavier's words finally registered, she trembled with pure rage and slapped him hard across the face.
"Xavier, you are unbelievably insulting!"
Evelyn had put some real force into it. The corner of Xavier's mouth split open, and the metallic taste of blood filled his mouth.
His expression instantly darkened. "I'm insulting? When you were smiling like a slut in front of Julian, why didn't you say I was insulting? For the sake of our marriage, I'm giving you a warning—and a choice."
