Xavier's face turned completely thunderous, his suppressed fury flaring up. "Evelyn, I've given you enough respect! If you have any sense, you'll take the out I'm giving you instead of pushing your boundaries!"

"Choosing to sleep with my own husband is pushing my boundaries? Then who isn't pushing them when they sleep with you? Vickie? Or that Minnie girl? Actually, I'm really curious about something. Startled, Ronan quickly pulled the car over to the curb.

Evelyn glanced out the window.

It was extremely late, and there was hardly a soul on the street. A cold gust of wind blew by, sweeping dead leaves across the empty asphalt.

Unaware of the full scope of their argument, Ronan couldn't help but interject. "Mr. Farrell, it's so late. It's too dangerous for Mrs. Farrell to take a cab alone. If there's an issue, maybe we should head home first."

Xavier said nothing, his jaw clenched tight.

Ronan quickly turned to Evelyn. "Mrs. Farrell, please just yield to him this once."

"Yield? Why should I yield? I was just following my heart, wanting to sleep with my own husband. What exactly did I do wrong?"

Fire seemed to shoot from Xavier's eyes. "Are you getting out on your own, or do you want me to kick you out?!"

Without another word, Evelyn unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car. She looked back with a calm expression. "Xavier, really think about my question. I'm very curious about the answer. Honestly, I think you owe me an explanation."
