Chapter 108

+25 Bonus

We’ve been working with Hazel for a month now. We haven’t found anything on how to take him down. But Hazel’s coven said they didn’t know the witch that put the spell on my father added in that his families souls go to her once they’re killed. They said if that’s the case that witch was into seriously dangerous magic, and explains his inability to die.

With my ever-growing belly, I’ve wanted nothing more than to go home and be with Liam. It’s putting me in a very depressed state. It’s one thing to run from the people I love to protect them, but to hide this from them. I don’t know if they’ll forgive me for that. These children deserve to know their father, it’s not fair. To the children or to Liam. My minds in a dilemma, because it might be for the best to give them to Liam. They shouldn’t have to stay on the run with me, when they could have a normal life with Liam. It breaks my heart to think of my babies growing up without me, but as with everything else, I’ll do what I have to do. Hazel says as long as my father doesn’t get wind of them, it might be safer for them to live with Liam.

I’m sitting in the back room, staring at the wall of books. Hazel’s in the corner of the room reading one of the spell books and Nick’s pacing back and forth across the room. We’ve looked over almost every book in here, and haven’t found a thing. I still have so many questions, I look over at Hazel. “How is it he never left a scent, or a trail to follow?” I ask, thinking back on all the attacks, there was never anything.

((

Hazel looks up from her book and looks at me questioningly. “Well… There is a spell that can take away your scent forever, but it would require a witch. And to my knowledge, there aren’t any helping him. There’s also a potion, but it wouldn’t be easy to get your hands on. I’m not removing either thing as an option though.” She answers and I sit back and think about it for a minute. “What are you thinking?” Nick asks, I look over at him. I’m thinking it’s strange. Why does he need to hide his scent? Why would this super almighty powerful man, need to hide from people? The story says he comes in and kills everybody in the pack and leaves one to keep the cycle going. So, why hide? Why not just take out the whole pack and then kill me? It doesn’t make sense.” I explain, both of their faces scrunch up, taking in what I said.

Hazel jumps up, “Maybe that’s it!” She exclaims, as we both stare at her. “What’s it?” Nick rushes. “Maybe he’s weak. Maybe he’s dying?” She says like a question, like she’s not sure. I stare at her in disbelief, but then think about it. I think about the night he killed my mom; he had a gun and a silencer. Yes, he threw me up against a wall, but that wouldn’t have taken the strength of a powerful being. Why bring the gun? Why hide your scent? My eyes widen and I look back up at Hazel, “He wanted me away from my pack. He didn’t want to have to fight them, so he scared me away. That makes sense, he didn’t tell me to meet him somewhere like he should have done. He didn’t care. He just wanted me away from my protection.” My mind starts wheeling. I fell right into the trap. I took away my protection, scared he would kill them, when he was scared if he had to try, he might lose.

“Okay, we can work with this. Maybe if he’s already weak, instead of finding something to kill him, we find something to weaken him more.” Hazel says. “Do you think we can find something on why he’s weakening?” I ask. “I’ll ask the coven what they think.” She walks out of the room to make the call. “So, you really think he’s weakened?” Nick asks, I sigh, “I don’t know, but it does add up. The gun, the hiding, then only attacking when someone’s alone, not just taking out the whole pack. Don’t you think?” I ask, he sighs, “I think it’s a possibility, but what if we’re wrong?” I stand up and walk closer to him, putting both hands on his shoulders to stop his pacing. “We’re not going to go into anything half cocked, we just need a solid plan. Let’s see what Hazel’s coven says, then we’ll go from there.” Nick shakes his head to agree.
