Chapter 119
I hear voices before my brain puts together what’s happening. “Mommy said the scary man is trying to find us, and these will protect us.” Griffon says happily. “Yeah, and they’re pretty.” Heather adds. Dallas laughs, “That they are, pumpkin.”
I slowly open my eyes, not being frightened since I heard Dallas. Apparently, he’s still able to calm my soul. As soon as he sees me open my eyes, his get worried. “You okay?” He asks, looking me over. I sit up straighter and look outside the window. “Mommy! Uncle Dallas is taking us home!” Griffon exclaims, my eyes turn red. I turn to glare at Dallas, his face stoic, not giving me anything. “Stop the car, Dallas.” I say lowly, knowing he can hear me, but hopefully the children don’t.
He looks over, his face looking like a child not getting their way. “No. I’m taking you guy’s home. If I need to, I’ll knock you out until we get there. I’m not kidding.” His face getting more and more serious as he speaks. My mouth drops at his words. He closes his eyes and takes a breath, “Please Amy, we need you home. And you need medical attention, you were out for two hours. That’s not normal something is going on.” He says, and I roll my eyes. “I’m fine, Dallas. I just need to keep everyone safe and going home right now is not going to do that.” I try and explain, trying to keep the anger out of my voice. “Mommy, are we not going home?” Griffon asks barely above a whisper. I look back and see his eyes brimming with tears. This boy never cries, even as a baby. I sigh and look over at Dallas angrily. He gives me a slight guilty smile.
I turn around fully to see both my babies, “We’ll go home, but it’s just a visit. We aren’t staying. Okay?” I ask raising an eyebrow. They both start cheering excitedly. I turn back around in my chair with a grunt looking out
the window.
I can’t believe he would do this. Why is he willing to risk it? Why are they all so willing to die to protect me?
I wake up to a slight nudge in my arm. Dallas has his finger over his lips shushing me, and then points back to the back seat. Both my kids have fallen asleep. I look back at Dallas confused. Why did he wake me up? He points in front of us, and now I see why.
I can see the gates to the pack, lit up by the streetlights. I suddenly feel extremely nervous. My stomach is doing flips. I can’t let this visit get to me; we have to leave in a couple of days. If he’s watching the pack, we may even have to leave sooner then that.
Dallas seems to feel my nervousness, because he grabs my hand and squeezes, looking at me reassuringly. I sigh heavily, taking in whatever calming energy he can give me right now. “It’s going to be okay. Everybody will be so excited to see you.” I close my eyes and sit back in the seat.
They open the gates seeing Dallas waving at them, and he starts driving towards Liam’s house. Everything looks so different, but also the exact same. Seeing the place I grew up is bittersweet. Leaving again, is really going to take a toll.
We finally arrive in front of Liam’s house, but my legs are shaking so bad, I don’t know if I can walk. Six years, I haven’t seen him for six years. Has he moved on? Is he the Alpha now? Why didn’t I ask Dallas any questions? That’s right, because we’re not staying. He gets to meet his kids and spend a couple of days with them and then
were gone.
I control my shaking and finally get out of the car, grabbing the children. It’s late, but Dallas said he’d be awake. Griffon walks next to me while I carry Heather up the front porch. I feel like my heart is about to pop out of my chest. Just when I think to myself, I can’t do this and want to turn around, Dallas places his hand on my
