Chapter 142

“I don’t know Aims, not that I liked it, but I think everything that happened and is going to happen, happened for a reason.” I stare at him confused, he continues. “You left to protect us, and I think you did. Clearly, you being here was dangerous. We were too young to honestly handle the threat. We would have probably all have died trying to protect you. You leaving gave us time to figure shit out, get stronger, get ready for what’s coming. With how the threats were coming, it was only a matter of time before he came for you and werewolf babies aren’t detectable by scent until around two months. Had you stayed and he was able to get to you, knowing exactly where you were. He may have killed you, before knowing you had babies growing inside you.” Liam goes tense beside me, but Walker keeps explaining. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that you came home and brought both Dallas and Cole’s mates back with you. That they were so hell bent on protecting you, they lied to you to make sure they could continue doing so. I think everything we’ve been through, everything that’s happened, was destiny, starting from the second your mom walked through those pack gates pregnant.”

I stare at him for a minute, everything? Even my years in hell? As if he can read my thoughts, he answers, “Yes, even then. I believe you and Liam became friends at such a young age, so you grew up loving each other, even when you hated each other. That even when you wanted nothing to do with him, once he started talking to you again, you couldn’t stay away from him, because he would always be important to you. So, when fate decided we should rebuild your guys friendship, it made it happen on the backbone of what you and Liam had already created.

I think had you always relied on Liam to protect you, you would have had no survival skills of your own. It wouldn’t have been your instinct to run when the threat made itself known, it would have been your instinct to hide behind Liam. Which in return like I said, would have gotten us all killed. I think those years apart were to teach you to stand strong, even without Liam. So you could leave find their mates, have your children and give us time to get more prepared.” Walker finishes, and we all just sort of stare at each other.

Everything he says makes sense, destiny. We’ve been playing a role in this game, and now we’re getting to the end. The pieces are falling together, there’s just one more piece to place. Ending my father. The world wants him gone, and it’s been using my life, all this time to set us up to where we can do just that, as long as we keep listening.

“I think he’s right.” Hazel says, walking down the stairs holding Cole’s hand. “I’ve been thinking it for a while, probably since I realized I was your friend’s mate. I think all of this was meant to happen.” She sits back down in the chair she was in before, as Cole looks at her like she’s hung to moon. It’s the sweetest thing, I’m so glad everything with their talk seemed to go okay.

“Okay, so, a plan.” Dallas says, sitting up straighter. I look over at him, “The first thing I want to figure out, is breaking this connection, and getting the kids out of here.” I say, looking around for ideas. “You want the kids gone? We could just put them in the safe room” Liam says, frightened I’ve lost my mind. I just stare at him sadly, “In the case that none of us survive this, I don’t want them anywhere near this place.” I explain, and Liam scrunches his face like it pains him to admit it, but he nods in agreement.

Hazel coughs, interrupting Liam and my staring. “As for the connection spell, I think I’ve figured something out.” I give her a nod, “Good, do the kids need to be here for it?” She shakes her head no, “No, the kids connection is through you. If I cut off the connection through you, theirs will be severed to.” Hazel explains, I nod and look up at Liam. “Okay, good. I want to get them out of here as soon as possible.” Liam studies my face, and then nods, agreeing with me. The sooner the better, we don’t have long before the full moon, and he’s attacked when it wasn’t a full moon before. We have no idea when he’ll get here.
