“Why can’t they lock the freaking door?” I ask Lenny as I take a sip of my coffee. He smirks over at me. “You know, you can’t always anticipate when the mood will strike.” He teases and I roll my eyes.

Truthfully, I don’t really care. I love seeing that they’re still happy after all these years, especially after everything they went through in order to be together. It just reminds me that I still don’t have that, and I’d rather not see that much of the love.

My dad told me that he knew she was his mate once he turned seventeen. Even without being able to feel it, or have his wolf to tell him for sure, he just knew. Weather he was willing to show it or not is another story, but he knew before he really knew.

Why can’t I even have that?

I hate that I can’t just find my mate and start spending a happy life with her. Heather found hers so quickly. It annoys me how quickly.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for her, I guess I’m just a little jealous.

“Whatever. Are we still going to the party tonight?” I ask Lenny and he nods excitingly. Of course we are. I’m in need of some lovin’ tonight.” He says raising his eyebrows up and down while I roll my eyes at him.

He laughs, “Come on. You need some lovin’ time too! I haven’t seen you ‘hang out’ with anyone since Justine, like six months ago.” He says and I take a deep breath. “Just not in the mood.” I tell him and he mock gasps. “I didn’t think that was possible for a male. Especially an Alpha.” He says and I shake my head.

My phone dings and I pull it out of my pocket. My mom.

“Throwing a ball! One month! You’ll need a new tux.’ -Mom

I sigh, grabbing my phone closer and rereading the message.

‘Why are we throwing a ball?’ – Me

I wait for her response and look up at Lenny. “My mom wants to throw a ball.” I tell him and his smile widens, Perfect! Girls are always looking for lovin’ at balls.” He says and I roll my eyes at him. “You’re ridiculous.”

‘Gathering all the packs! Your sister will be here.’- Mom

Great. Just what I need, my sister shoving the fact that she has her mate down my throat.

I put my phone back into my pocket, and sigh looking back up at Lenny.

“Do you really need more lovin’? You probably already have six illegitimate kids running around through the packs.” I tease him and he smiles.

“Don’t be silly. I always glove up.” He tells me and I curse myself for giving him the opportunity to respond like that.

“Whatever dude, I’m going to head home and take a nap before the party. I’ll see you tonight.” I tell him, then raise from my my chair and start to head home.

I walk up the stairs and head to my room, when I hear my dad’s voice in my head. ‘Come to the office.’

I sigh, then turn back to the office and head inside. “Hey dad.” I give him a small wave before falling into the chair across the desk from his. He smiles, “How was school?” He asks.

I shrug, “Fine.”

He looks at me for a minute, before nodding and taking a deep breath. “I got you all set up with online classes. I’ll call the school tomorrow and tell them you’ll no longer be attending.” He explains and my eyes widen.

I did not expect it to be that easy.
