Chapter 174
I sit across from my mate in the office room; my dad uses when the other Alpha’s come in for meetings.
My mate.
I can’t believe I can finally say that. This feeling is indescribable. I want to just grab her and pull her into my lap, but I resist, not wanting to scare her away before I even get to know her.
She’s beautiful. Not exactly what I envisioned, but she’s still beautiful, and anything I had envisioned has left my mind. I just want her and only her.
“I’m Nadia.” She finally whispers and the name flutters around in my mind.
Nadia.
Perfect.
I smile, “I’m Griffon.” I tell her and she smiles in return.
I’ve been waiting for this for forever, but for some reason it’s like I have no idea what I’m supposed to do right now. Everything I’ve ever known about picking up girls is void.
I’m not just picking her up and spending the night with her. I need her to love me. To want me.
“This is strange.” She whispers and I smirk at her. “It’s definitely new.” I respond and she chuckles, “I would hope so. So, I’m not your second chance?” My face blanches and I shake my head. “Of course not. Why would you think that?” I ask her, surprised her mind is there.
She shrugs, “It’s just a little late for you to find your first mate.” She explains and I tilt my head. “Am I your second chance?” I ask.
She shakes her head, “No. But I was a rogue up til a year ago. Not as simple finding your mate.” She explains and I swallow. “You were rogue?” I ask her and she nods.
I look over her, she’s definitely not rogue anymore. “Do you mind me asking what happened?” I ask and she shakes her head. “No, but I prefer not to talk about it right now. I’d like to wait until we get to know each other a bit better.” She tells me and I nod.
I can accept that she’s not ready to talk about it. It must have been hard to have to be a rogue all this time.
I smile, “So, what do you think about all this.” I ask her and she smiles, “I’m excited. I’ve waited for my mate for a long time.” She tells me and I nod, “Me too.”
“So, you want to do this?” She asks me and I nod. “Of course.” I tell her and she smiles. “And you?” I ask her and she nods. “I do. But I’d like to take it slowly. Things… Things in my life haven’t always been great. I’d like to be one hundred percent sure before we mark each other.” She tells me.
My heart sinks, knowing she wants to wait, but I do understand. As much as I want her, I also want her to be comfortable with me.
“Do you want to go dance?” I ask her and she smiles and nods. Taking my outstretched hand and walking next to me back to the ballroom.

Everybody in the room stops to watch us walk back into the room. I mix of happy to confusion crossing their faces. I pull her to the dance floor and place her against my chest. Telling everybody in the room that she’s mine.
She’s mine and no one else can have this beautiful creature in front of me.
I glance behind her and see my mom watching us with a smile on her face. She must be ecstatic, I just know this was her plan all along.
I look over at Dallas, he’s practically sitting on top of my mom and eyeing my mate with suspicion. My face changes to confusion, before my mom elbows him in the stomach and he smiles over at me.
I don’t know what that was all about.
Then I look over at Mia. Her face is a mix of happy and sad, and I think I know why. I just left Aspen on the dance floor by herself. That was pretty shitty of me, but I’m sure she’ll understand.
I mean she literally told me my mate was closer than I realized and she was right. It’s kind of spooky if you think
