Chapter 179
“I’m glad your okay, mom. Are you sure you don’t want me to come back home for a little while?” Heather asks me over the phone.
I smile, “No, sweetie. It’s just a broken hand. I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. I love you.” I tell her and she sighs, “I love you too, mom. Let me know if you want me to come home, okay?” She says and I chuckle. “I will. I’ll talk to you later.”
We hang up the phone and I sigh looking at Hazel and Mia, who are both in their own beds, but still in the same room as me. The guys are all outside the door, keeping watch, but we know they’re talking about what to do. They just want to leave us out of it for now while we heal.
I’m not sure what can be done. As far as we know, we haven’t had any witnesses come forward and that’s really all we could go off of, since car is in pieces, but I’ll let them try and figure it out. They’re much better at those things than we are.
“Hazel, I think you saved our lives.” I tell her and she shakes her head, “You saved our lives, Amy. If we wouldn’t have gotten out my protection spell would have demolished under that explosion.” She disagrees and I shake my head, “No. I wouldn’t have even been able to come up with the idea if we all died of smoke inhalation.”
I chuckle and Mia shakes her head.
“You both saved us. There’s no need to argue about it. There’s been enough of that today.” Mia says shaking her
head.
I had almost forgotten about Dallas and Liam’s freak out. I think they have too, because they’re both in the hallway right now, talking as if things are normal.
“What do you think is going on with that?” Hazel asks me, and I shrug. “I don’t know. I know back in high school Liam would get a little jealous, but he hasn’t ever freaked out like that.” I tell her and Mia nods her head in agreement.
Maybe what he said is right, and he just misses me, but I don’t know… It just feels like more.
The door opens and the guys walk back in. Liam, Dallas, and Nick all walk over to me, and I eye them suspiciously, but they all choose to ignore it.
“I’m going to have investigators looking for anyone who even walked close to your car. We’re going to talk to everybody in the pack if need be. We’ll find who did this, Angel.” Liam promises and I nod. “Okay.”
I don’t like this feeling. And it’s stupid. I should be worried about the fact someone clearly wants me dead, but
all I’m concerned about is the tension in the room.
Liam pulls me closer to him and further away from Dallas, and I don’t miss the side eye Dallas gives him. Clearly, it’s not forgotten between them, just put aside for now.
I glance over at Mia who looks up at Walker and Walker gives me an unsure look. He doesn’t understand what’s going on either.
Cole chuckles, “You guys are being ridiculous.” He scoffs, pulling Hazel closer to him, but looking between Dallas and Liam.
Liam glares at him. “Just don’t worry about it.” Liam says sternly, but Cole scoffs again. “Don’t worry about it?

Are you kidding me? You guys are throwing punches at each other for the whole pack to see, making you two look ridiculous and Amy look like she’s been doing something she hasn’t. Making the whole pack question her. All over something that Dallas has been doing literally since we were teens.” Cole responds and I hear Liam growl.
I didn’t even think about what the pack would think when they saw the two of them fighting over me. Do they really think that?
I look over at Cole worried and he shrugs, “Sorry, Aims. It doesn’t matter what’s true. People believe what they hear, and thanks to them people are now hearing that you’re sleeping with Dallas.” He explains and I swallow while Hazel elbows him in the stomach. “She doesn’t need to worry about that right now.” Hazel glares at Cole and he looks at me apologetically.
I look between Liam and Dallas, I want to know what the hell is going on, but not more than I want them to be
over it.
I stand up start to walk to the door before turning around. “Fix this.” Is all I say before I walk out the door.
‘You can’t be alone right now.’ Dallas mind-links me, and my teeth clench before Walker and Mia walk out of the room, “I got her.” Walker tells them and I keep walking.
I slow my stride to walk next to them, and Mia grabs ahold of my arm. It’s not that I wanted to be alone, I just didn’t want to be around them right now.
“They’ll work it out.” Mia whispers and I nod. “I know, but I just don’t understand.” I tell her and she nods her head in agreement. “It’s definitely strange. And all of this happening after we held a ball with several other packs makes me think something is definitely up.” She whispers and I tilt my head at that.
“You think someone may have put something in his head?” I ask her and she shrugs, “I don’t know, but this isn’t like him. He usually just lets Dallas’s remarks slide.” She says. “Yeah.” I agree.
