Chapter 18
When I walk out of the bathroom, Dallas is sitting on my bed. He sees me and instantly stands grabbing my chin and looking at my slap mark. I can see the fury in his eyes. He starts to leave angrily, but I grab his arm. “Please don’t, Dals.” I plead; he stops, still facing the door. “Look, I appreciate it, but it’s just going to start more shit if you try and do something about it. I don’t want more drama for me, and I definitely don’t want more drama for you.” I say walking closer to him.
He turns around seeming to calm down. “Aims, I’m so sorry. Liam said he uninvited her and her friends. I shouldn’t have left your side. I should have known something like this might happen.” He says guiltily. I just give him a small smile, “Honestly, it’s not a big deal, I’ve had worse.” I say then realize what he said. “Wait, you guys uninvited her?” I ask, he nods. “Yeah, we wanted you to have fun. Didn’t want you to have to look over your shoulder the whole night. Apparently, they didn’t take the rejection well.” He explains. I look at him shocked, ” Why would you guys do that for me?” I ask, not understanding how uninviting them would help with their plan. Honestly, I thought it was going to happen at the party. “Aims, how many times do I have to tell you? I… We want to be your friend. We all had a really good time with you last night and tonight before Clara showed up. We just want to get to know you better.” He answers sweetly looking me in the eyes. I smile, not really sure how to respond.
I feel like I’m falling for this plan to hard. All of them besides Liam have really seemed to be trying. It feels so real, maybe I need to let my guard down a bit and allow myself to be friends with them. I guess I can have some fun before shit hits the fan.
His smile widens when he looks down at me, “Alright, enough gushy talk. Get dressed or I might think you’re flirting with me.” He laughs. I look down and my face turns bright red, I’m still in my towel! I race to my closet and close the door behind me and get dressed. I come out in some black sweats and a tight blue short sleeved shirt. I throw my hair into a clip and glare over at Dallas. “You couldn’t have said something earlier?” I say jokingly and throw the nearest sweater I have at him. He laughs, “Hey, hey, hey, you seemed comfortable. Who am I to argue?” He laughs and winks at me, and I just roll my eyes at him.
“So, are you going back over to the party now?” I ask, not really sure where to go from here. He smirks, “Nah, I brought the party here.” I glare at him not sure what he means by that. He just shrugs and motions towards the door.
We walk down the stairs and Mia’s sitting on the couch. While Cole and Walker are sitting on our two recliners. Walker’s going through the movies my mom bought to watch tonight. “Let’s watch this one! Zombie movies are the best.” Walker says excitedly. Cole laughs and lays back in the chair apparently happy about his choice. I look back at Dallas he smiles, “All mother approved. We sent her a text while you were in the shower.” He says, seemingly reading my mind. I shrug and head over to sit next to Mia.
She has coffee in front of her, she’s always made herself at home here. I love it, it feels so natural. She slides a cup to me, I smile and hug her, and then she looks over at my cheek. I see so many emotions cross her face, but I stop her in her tracks. “No, we’re not talking about it. Pretend it’s not there.” I say and glance at Walker and Cole who agree to my terms with a nod.
“Alright, let’s pop this sucker in.” Walker exclaims and moves to the tv. “Old school, I like it.” Cole comments, since we’re using dvd’s. I laugh and shrug, “Yeah, mom still hasn’t gotten a handle on all the new technology yet. She likes it better this way.” We all laugh as Walker gets off the ground and starts working the remote to figure out how to get it to start. I roll my eyes and walk over to him to help him out. As I’m trying to explain to Walker, he needs two different remotes I hear the front door open. All of us look over at the door and see Liam
