I watch him leave in complete shock. Staring at the back of his head until it disappears into the house. “Ignore him. He’s drunk.” Dallas whispers, just as shocked as I am. “He’s been drunk before.” I whisper back and he turns me to look at him.

“Amy, he didn’t mean it.” Dallas tries to convince me. I close my eyes and turn my head to the ground, “My mate just called me a whore.” I whisper mostly to myself.

But of course, they all hear it.

“Something just has him acting out. You know he’s not like this and he didn’t mean what he said.” Nick says and I shake my head. “It sounded pretty convincing to me.” I tell them and they all go silent.

I finally pull myself together and look over at Mia, “I’m kind of over tonight. Can I stay at your house?” I ask, not wanting to be anywhere near Liam right now. She nods, her face full of pity and shock and I look up at Walker to make sure he’s okay with it.

My jaw clenches, “Maybe I should stay at a hotel.” I tell them. I don’t want Liam thinking even more that somethings up with one of them. Even though I don’t know why I care at this point.

Walker’s face hardens and he shakes his head. “Don’t be ridiculous. You’d have to leave the pack to do that and if Liam wants to start something with me, I’ll deal with it.” Walker states firmly and I purse my lips but nod my

head.

Dallas squeezes my shoulder, and I look over at him. “I’ll see if I can get him to talk to me.” Dallas whispers and I shrug, “Do whatever you want.”

I’m upset, but I’m mostly furious. I can’t believe he’d accuse me of wanting to be with all of our friends. All of our MATED friends at that!

Mia walks over and grabs my arm, “Let’s go.” She tells me and I let her pull me away from the group and Walker walks behind us.

We make it to her house in silence, and I walk myself to the spare bedroom after telling them a weak goodnight.

I cuddle up in the giant white comforter and just stare at the wall until sleep finally finds me.

I wake up the next morning and hear my phone ringing, so I grab it off the side table and see Griffon’s name flashing on the screen.

“Hey sweetie.” I answer the phone greeting him. “Mom! Are you okay?” He asks frantically. My eyes scrunch together confused by what he’s talking about. “I’m fine. What’s wrong?” I ask him and he scoffs.

“Other than dad not being able to find you?” Griffon asks, and last night hits me in the head like a ton of bricks. I slowly sit up in Mia’s guest bed and look around. I guess I could have sent Liam a text telling him where I was going, but I didn’t even think about it.

“Sorry. I stayed at Mia’s. I’m fine.” I tell him and he sighs, “Why’d you stay at Mia’s.” He asks, and instead of telling my son his dad has been acting funny I change the subject.

“Are you home already?” I ask and he scoffs, knowing I’m ignoring his question. “Yes. I rushed home as soon as I heard someone tried to kill you.” I smile, “Aw, Griff. That was sweet, but you didn’t have to do that.” I tell him

and I swear I hear him roll his eyes.

“If someone’s trying to hurt you, then I need to be home.” He deadpans and I roll my eyes. There’s nothing I can do to stop it now. “Alright. Let me get up and ready and I’ll come see you.” I tell him.

“Alright mom, I’ll see you in a little bit.” He finishes and hangs up the phone.

I hear yelling from down the hall and my jaw clenches. I just know he’s here. I don’t know what I want to say to

him.
