Chapter 193
I leave my parent’s office, determined to do better by my mate. I’ve been trying to make her feel more comfortable around me, but clearly it isn’t working.
All I want is to be with her, but she always seems to want to be somewhere else. Even when she’s with me.
I knock on her door, and there’s no answer. I knock again, and again there’s no answer. I finally creek the door open, “Nadia?” I ask the empty room. She’s not here. Surprise, surprise.
I close my eyes and bend my head towards the ceiling, letting out a deep breath. Why didn’t she tell me where she was going?
I search around the house and nothing, so I decide to look around the pack. The idea of the witch that’s trying to kill my mom getting Nadia, making me walk a little faster.
I don’t feel like she’s actually in danger, but my minds making me feel like it’s a possibility.
I search everywhere before finally making my way towards the park, where I run into Aspen, Finn, Randy and surprisingly Lenny.
I know I’m older than them, but they always used to invite me to hang out with them before, even if I would say no. And now they’re just inviting Lenny?
I eye them suspiciously, and Lenny finally sees me. He throws the football to Finn and runs over to me. “Hey, man! How’s everything going?” He asks me and I look at him then at Aspen as she runs over to us and stands a little to close to Lenny for my liking.
me, and for
She’s still only sixteen. Surely nothings going on between them. “You here to play?” Aspen asks me, some reason I can’t take my mind off of her and Lenny getting together.
I look between them as Lenny shifts from foot to foot, and I narrow my eyes at him. Aspen does a little fake cough to get my attention. When I look her way, her head shakes and shoulders scrunch, “Are you going to answer? Or are you just going to keep eyeing Lenny like you’re going to kill him?” Aspen says snidely and my
eyes narrow on her.
My head swings towards Lenny, “What are you doing here?” I ask him and he purses his lips. “They saw me walking through the park and invited me to play. Not like I was doing anything since my friend’s all wrapped up in his new mate.” He responds with a shrug, and I swallow.
Is that really all this is?
“Not right now it seems. She’s been here for like an hour talking to the Matthews.” Aspen says eyeing me for my reaction. Which I do give her.
My head swings to where the Matthews always sits and my head tilts as I see her chatting with them.
Maybe she feels bad for them and is trying to make them feel better since she’s going to be their new Luna soon.
“Sorry, I can’t play right now.” I tell them, still looking at my mate. Aspen scoffs, “Of course.” She says snidely under her breath, making me swing my head back to her.
“What is your problem?” I snap at her. Finally, fed up with this fucking mood she’s been in since Nadia showed

I sigh and put rub my eyes with my thumb and pointer finger, then look up at her, “Look, I’m sorry, but she’s new to the pack. I’m trying to make sure she feels at home here.” I explain and Aspen scoffs again looking over at Nadia, “She seems fine. You’re the one acting weird.” Aspen responds and Lenny nods his head.
I glare at him, and his eyes widen before he puts his hands up in surrender, “Dude, I’m sorry, but she’s right. I’ve texted and called, and you haven’t responded to anything.” He tells me, and I squint my eyes.
I haven’t gotten any text or calls from him.
“So, you guys don’t like her?” I growl, because why else would they be lying?
Finn and Randy show up, standing behind Aspen like she might need their protection. What the hell?
My eyes narrow on her as I wait for her response, because her response seems to matter to me more than any of them. She takes a deep breath and shakes her head. “I don’t know her. But I know how you’re acting since she came into the fold, and I don’t like that. You know the stories, Griffon. When your mom came into the fold everyone surrounded her. Even before the bond clicked into place. They just knew… They all wanted to be around her and protect her, and now this. All she’s managed is to isolate you from all your friends. And I heard about the way you treated your mom. That’s not you, Griffon.” She explains calmly, but my soul feels anything but.
My eyes narrow further if that’s possible, “So, my mom’s telling everyone that I didn’t respect her for once in my life?” I ask her and she shakes her head and sighs defeated. “No, Griffon. Your mom didn’t tell anyone. You know nothing stays secret for long and Dallas said something about it to Walker, and I overheard. This is what I’m talking about! You’re not acting like yourself.” She finishes.
I take a step closer to her and Finn, Randy, and to my surprise even Lenny takes a step closer to her as well. My jaw ticks and I take a step back, glaring at all the guys who think she needs their protection. If anything, I’d need protection from her. She’s nearly taken me out in training. “What the fuck is wrong with you guys. You know I’d never hurt her!” I snap at them.
Lenny steps between Aspen and me and places a hand on my chest. “No, Griff. That’s the problem. We don’t.”
