Chapter 207

We spent the rest of the day at the scene, going over everything with a fine-tooth comb.
The door was unlocked, which in this pack isn’t that uncommon, but with the amount of threats the Matthews have received over the last fifteen years, I find it unlikely. Making me think it might be someone they knew.
Mr. Matthews kept them in a drawer at the bottom of his desk. I sit there, with the drawer wide open, reading page after page of death threats and just horrible, horrible things.
I find it hard to believe the people in my pack are this cruel, but most of them were about protecting me. Their Luna. Not that that makes it any better.
A deep remorseful sigh leaves me, and I throw my head back against the desk, a letter sitting between my knees. All of this, even after my attempts to resolve the issue. It seems the whole pack had a problem with them.
I feel Dallas’s presence walk closer to me and he sits down next to me, taking the letter from between my legs and skimming over the contents. “Wow. That’s… um, graphic.” He says, putting the letter back in the drawer and leaning his head back on the desk and turning his face to look at me.
I slowly turn my head to meet his stare and shake my head slightly before looking back down at the drawer.” Why do you think he kept all these?” I ask and he sighs, “Maybe, he wanted proof on how bad the pack was to them.” He responds.
I glare at the letters, like if I stare hard enough, maybe they’ll burst into flames. This was so cruel. They never told me.
I shake my head, “They wanted things to get better. They had even donated time and resources to help the new building. Why would he want to look at these then still help the pack?” I ask. Dallas shakes his head with a shrug, looking towards the ceiling.
“I don’t know, Aims. I guess we never will.” He whispers and I swallow, because he’s right.
With the amount of blood in their bedroom, there’s no possible way they are still alive.
I close the drawer and go to stand, turning and looking down at Dallas as he moves to stand as well. “Has Liam talked to Julia or John?” I ask him and he shakes his head.
“News will probably get around soon, though. We should talk to them before it does.” Dallas explains and I nod. Julia and John were good friends with the Matthews, granted things have been shaky for a while ever since everything went down, but that was on the Matthews. They pushed Liam’s parents away so they wouldn’t have to deal with the social problems.
We walk over to the room Liam, Cole and Walker are all working in, searching for anything that might help. Liam’s head perks up when he scents me in the room and our eyes lock. The sadness in his is clear as I walk closer, wrapping an arm around his neck and kissing his cheek.
His hand reaches up to cup my arm and his head falls back into my neck. “Find anything?” He asks, I shrug. “A drawer full of death threats, but you’ll have to arrest the whole pack with how many there are.” I tell him and he gives me a solemn nod, then shakes his head. “We haven’t gotten anywhere.” He tells me and I nod, kiss his cheek again and lift up.
“I’m going to go talk to Julia and John. They need to know, and you need to be here.” I inform him and he nods,
