This can’t be happening.

Dallas sets me down outside the house on the grass next to the porch and I instantly fall to my knees.
Dallas glances between me and the house, as if debating between the two, but he settles on me, and I know why.
Because there’s no way there’s anything in there to save.
‘Amy? Dallas? What’s wrong?’ Liam’s booming voice reaches through the mind-link, his fear evident as the mate bond alerts him to my distress.
It must be dire, because it takes risk of life for that to happen unless your switch is turned on so they can feel everything. Which mine is not.
My eyes squeeze shut, as if I can pretend this is all a dream and I didn’t just walk in on what I know I did,
Red mist coats my vision and scream rips from my throat.
“No!!” I scream, my body falling to the ground, like I can’t get a grip on the reality in front of me.
“Amy. Come on. We need to go.” Dallas pleads, trying to pull me up, but I refuse.
He pulls me up and I yank from his hold. Charging for the house, begging and pleading to the Goddess that they’re alive somehow. That the people who have always been there for me, supported Liam and I, fought for me, loved me, became my second family, are somehow still alive.
Dallas tries to stop me again, but a growl low and guttural leaves my mouth, canines snapping at Dallas’s hand, causing him to take a step back with wide eyes.
I walk through the front door and red mist fills my vision. It’s everywhere, every fiber of the furniture. Every picture frame and decoration. I feel like it’s in the very air I breathe.
I stop in the middle of the room, my senses looking for anything I’m missing. A breath, a scent, a fucking hair, but there’s nothing. It’s all gone. Every piece of them.
I fall to my knees again, looking around one more time, before my head falls into my hands and tears burst from
my eyes.
No.
I hear the car come to a screeching halt outside and the three pairs of feet scraping the ground, until they freeze in the doorway.
One set of feet makes it’s way to me and I feel Liam wrap me in his arms.
Liam. These may have been my second parents, but they were his parents, he shouldn’t have to comfort me.
I force back the tears still threatening to fall and look up at him. He’s looking around the room as if this is all a

dream, like there’s no way this is happening.
I raise my hand to grab ahold of his arm, and he looks down into my eyes. Tears sit on the edges of his, but he won’t let them fall. Not now. I know him well enough to know that. He’s thinking that his dad would want him to be strong right now, so that’s what he’s going to do.
“Come on, Angel. We can’t stay in here.” He whispers, lifting me up from my arm and pulling me towards the door.
All three of our friends watch us, waiting for when they’re needed, but we walk past them out into the night.
“Walker.” Liam starts, but Walker’s ahead of him. He starts walking to the car, “I’m on it.” Walker says as he jumps into the car and takes off.
We walk in silence. Liam’s hand holding mine tightly, like he’s just now realizing how serious this all is becoming. This isn’t just parlor tricks anymore, it’s murder.
We finally get home and walk up the stairs and see Griffon and Nadia’s doors hanging open and everything having been removed from them.
It feels like another stab to my heart, when I’m not sure how many more I can take.
Dallas walks in front of me, slowly closing Griffon’s door with a soft click, like if I can’t see it, I won’t realize it’s empty.
We walk into the office and Liam drags me to his chair and he sits down, pulling me down on top of him.
The silence and the non-movement just seems to bring everything back full force.
Liam lost his parents, Griffon lost his grandparents, and the pack lost a great Alpha and Luna, and to top it all off, we have no leads and half a suspect.
But Nadia is a wolf, not a witch. She couldn’t be doing all of this, especially not alone.
Hazel and Mia walk in, having had heard the news and their eyes meet mine. I swallow and shake my head not wanting to think about it. Not wanting to have to go through the apologies and sad eyes and pity looks again. I never wanted to experience this again.
Had they died of old age, people would say they lived a long life, now they’re going to say they were taken too. soon. It’s not fair, none of this is fair.
I stand up and walk over to Hazel, “Can I talk to you?” I ask her and she nods, while I start to pull her out of the room. “Angel, just talk. You don’t need to hide.” Liam finally speaks and I turn to him. “It’s fine. I know where your heads at. We need to do this together.” He says and I take a deep breath before nodding and turning back to Hazel.
“Can wolves do magic?”
