Liam’s fuming by time I get in the house, but I feel numb. There has to be something going on. There has to be a reason my son is acting like this. This goes beyond the mate bond.
This must be something else. It just must be.
Dallas sets me down next to my desk and I jump off him and sit down.
I’m not sure what expression I have on my face, but Liam’s anger doesn’t calm once he in front of me. He turns away from me looking at the door, then back at me.
“I’m going to go.” Liam says starting to walk away before I grab his hand and make him stop. “What are you going to do?” There’s a fine line between mate bond and family and with the anger on Liam’s face; I’m scared he might cross it.
His jaw clench’s as he lets me stop him. Walking back to me and kneeling in front of me and placing his forehead on mine. Shutting his eyes, then lifting them to mine. “I have to do something.” He whispers and I shake my head. “He’s hurting.” I whisper back and he shakes his head. “I don’t care.” He growls, but I continue to shake my head.
I give Liam as much of a smile as I can muster and lean forward to kiss his lips. I pull back and grab ahold of his neck, our foreheads still connected. “Liam, we can’t continue to make this worse. We can’t lose him completely. I won’t be able to handle it.” I whisper to him. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, before pulling away from me and nodding.
“Fuck!” Liam shouts, grabbing the lamp off my desk and throwing it across the room. It shatters into a million pieces. He throws his head down and clenches his fist.
I stand up and wrap my arms around him from behind and he sighs deeply before turning in my hold and wrapping me in his arms tightly.
“I just want this all to be over.” He whispers and I swallow down a sob as I nod my head. “Me too.”
‘Alpha, Luna, Griffon is headed for the cells.’ The guard, Henry mind-links us and we both pull apart before looking up at each other.
“Stay here, I’ll handle it.” Liam growls, already heading for the door. “Liam!” I shout after him. He turns, “Stay here.” He orders me and my teeth clench as I lose sight of him.
Dallas slowly walks over to me and I look up at him, “I need to be there.” I tell him, he takes a deep breath before agreeing. Knowing the only thing that’ll stop Liam from losing it is me.
By time we leave the house, Liam is already out of sight, but I know how to get there, so we make our ways to the
tunnels.
Dallas watches me carefully as I walk, afraid I’m going to fall apart at any given moment. Which isn’t far from the truth. My breathing is heavy and I’m moving slower than I would like to be.
Dallas keeps offering to carry me, but my mind is in too many places for my body to be standing still.
We walk through the cells until we get close to Nadia’s cell.

Her cell is fancy, to keep the witch out. She’s not behind bars, her room is practically a padded room coated in
silver.
We reach the doors, and the blood drains from my body, seeing Novak and Kale laying on the floor, their necks slit open.
I move to open the door instantly, my mind racing over the possibilities. Griffon didn’t do this. He wouldn’t have. I refuse to believe that.
I move through the door so quickly Dallas doesn’t have time to grab me and pull me away from the cell and freeze as soon as I walk through the door.
“Amy! No! Go!” I hear Liam shout at me, but my eyes are focused on the two people in the center of the room.
Clara and who I’m assuming is the new witch stand there staring at me. Clara with a sneer on her face and the witch seemingly with interest.
“Clara.” I breath and Dallas takes a step closer to me. She puts on the mean girl smile I was so used to seeing as a teen and my teeth clench.
“Hey, Amy.” She says perky and annoyingly.
My eyes finally move across the room, and I see Liam and Griffon both pressed against the wall, being held by the invisible chains.
