Chapter 240

He starts to take me back to the cells and I look up at him, I can tell he’s still mad about what I said earlier, might as well piss him off more.

“He’s okay. In case you were wondering.” I tell him and he looks at me confused before realization crosses his face. “I don’t care.” He growls.

I ignore him, “He’s still hurting. Doesn’t have much of a social life. He’s living in our basement.” I tell him and his jaw tightens, so I go on.

“Mom’s been trying to get him to go out. Meet new people. Maybe a second chance mate.” I shrug, and a low growl leaves his throat.

I try and restrain myself from the smirk wanting to form on my face. “There’s this really handsome guy, names Alex, he’s had his eye on Nick for a while now. I really like him, plus his names the same as my wolves so that’s fun. I think they’d make a good couple.” I tell him and his grip on my arm tightens.

“Like I said, I don’t care.” Dallas grits out.

“Clearly.” I scoff, and his jaw ticks.

I wince as his hand grows tighter, and he must see it because he loosens his hold.

I smile, “Do you feel it, Dallas?” I ask him and he just glares at me. “Once a Gamma, always a Gamma, huh?” I smirk, but he doesn’t find it funny.

“I don’t feel anything.” He growls; I laugh. “I saw you, Dallas. You may be able to hide it for the most part, saw you get ready to protect me. Amy would have wanted you to protect me.” I tell him and he snarls.

but I

“Do not mention that name to me, Aspen.” He growls and I force us to a stop so I can look at him, right down the hall from my cell. “Or what?” I ask, narrowing my eyes on him and he glares at me.

His breathing comes faster and his need to control his wolf higher as he fights his shift.

My eyes soften as I look into his. “It wasn’t your fault.” I whisper, and his jaw clenches and he drags me to my cell, throwing me inside and walking away.

Hazel walks up to her bars and looks at me shocked. “Are you trying to get killed?” She asks me, clearly having heard our conversation.

I smirk, “No. I needed him mad.” I tell her and she shakes her head, “Why?”

I start running my hands across the bars, the silver burning into the tips. “Two reasons actually. One, I need to make them feel something again. Everyone’s so scared to mention what happened, that they haven’t had to really think about it in years. I’m making sure they don’t forget.” I start and she watches me, “And the second?” She asks, and I smile as my hand reaches the door, and I slowly open it. “Two, because when people are mad, they get careless.” I smile triumphantly.

Walking out and across the hall to Hazel’s cell as she looks at me wide eyed and proud. I grab between the bars ignoring the bite of the silver and pull her to me, needing to feel her. I haven’t seen her for so long and this hug is long overdue.

She lets out a sob as she holds me and I close my eyes squeezing her tighter, as I ignore the pain it causes my stomach. I can’t imagine the pain she’s gone through being locked up in this cell for however long.

She pulls away from me and I look into her teary eyes. “You really want to do this?” She asks and I nod. “I have to.” I tell her.

I grab her wrist and look at the cuffs, “What did you do to get in here?” I ask her. The letter Cole sent before Griffon cut off outside conversation said she was imprisoned, but not what happened.

She shakes her head, “Nothing. He just didn’t want a witch in his pack, but he knew he couldn’t kill me, he wouldn’t have had the leverage he needed to force Finn into the Delta position. He forced them to stay, because they won’t leave without me.” She tells me and my heart squeezes for her and her family.

I look down at my arm and take a deep breath before I bring out my canines and rip into my skin. Hazel gasps at the sudden change, not understanding what I’m doing before I drop her hand and start digging into my arm.

I find what I need and pull it from my arm. Hazel looks at me like I’m crazy, but I just shrug. “I came prepared.” I joke and she rolls her eyes and hands my her wrist again.

I work the lock with my lock pick, something I’ve been practicing with since I decided I was going to come here.

It takes me a minute, but finally it clicks open and the cuff falls off in my hand.

I hand it back to her and her face brightens, her demeanor changing. “I can feel it again.” She whispers as she looks down at her hands amazed. I smile, this is probably a very good moment for her and she’s not even out of

the cell.

She looks up at me, “What now?” She asks, and I shake my head. “Nothing for you right now. I need to go talk to Cole and the boys.” I tell her glancing up the hall, and grimacing at the thought of trying to get out of this
