“Aspen. That isn’t funny.” My mom says slowly with hurt in her eyes, as she clutches Heather’s forearm.
I look her directly in the eyes, “I’m not joking.” I tell her sternly. She reads over my face then gasps, covering her mouth with her hands.
“No. How do… What are… I… What?” My mom stumbles, not being able to process the news. And my dad gets off the couch and pulls her to him, then looks at me.
“Aspen, explain.” He growls, clearly not able to handle his emotions on this either. Everyone stares at me, as they wait for me to explain and I take another deep breath.
“I’ve been having dreams. Liam’s been screaming at anyone who will listen to help them. They’re locked up somewhere and separated by silver bars. Julia’s locked in with Liam, but they can’t get to Amy. She’s suffering and… It’s really bad mom.” Tears start to leak from my eyes, as the dreams replay in my mind. “We have to try and help them, or she’s going to die. And if she dies… There’ll be no hope in saving Griffon from himself.” I whisper, and my mom comes over and pulls me to her chest.
I take the comfort, but look over at Nick when he starts to speak. “Aspen, I’m not saying I don’t believe it, but… They’re dreams. You can’t possibly know for sure.” He whispers half in disbelief and half wanting what I’m saying to be true.
I shake my head, but Hazel is the one who speaks. “I’ve always suspected that Aspen had a touch of clairvoyance. After Amy told me about her seeing dark clouds over Liam, when he was hexed. I believe her.” Hazel tells the room, and I give her a grateful smile.
“But that means they’ve been alive for the last two years. And if what Aspen is saying is true, they’ve been suffering the whole time while we just sat here.” My mom whispers, gripping onto me tighter. I squeeze her
arm to offer her as much comfort as I can.
“I’m not saying they haven’t, but it’s not like things have been a walk in the park for us either.” Nick snaps, glaring at Dallas. Dallas takes a step back towards the door, looking like a frightened puppy. Nick looks over at us, “I’m just saying, it’s not like we’ve been skipping around having tea while they were suffering. You can’t think like that Mia.” Nick tells her softly.
I nod, and stand up, “He’s right. It’ll get us no where. We need to figure out where they are, and help them. That’s all we need to worry about right now. So, can we put everything aside and just focus on finding them?” I ask, mostly asking Nick because he seems to have the biggest issue with Dallas being here.
Not that I blame him, we just can’t deal with it right now.
He gives me a curt nod, and I nod back before turning to Hazel. “Let’s start.” I tell her and then turn to Heather when she gasps.
She’s looking over at Micah and his face is hard, and riddled with anger. She slowly turns towards me, and her face is horrified. “What?” I ask quickly and she takes a deep breath. “Griffon’s here.”
My eyes widen. “What for?” I ask slowly. Scared he’s come back to take Hazel. “I don’t know.” She whispers. Hazel stands up, “Mia I need a map and hurry. If he’s here to take me back, hopefully I can at least finish a locator spell first. I need something of Amy or Liam’s too.” She rushes, and I grit my teeth.

Goddess, please don’t let that be why he’s here. My mom nods and rushes from the room to get what Hazel needs. “Walker, I need candles too.” She tells him, and he turns to go to the kitchen.
“Do you think that’s why he’s here?” Heather whispers and I shake my head, “I don’t know. Go find out, but Heather.” I stop her as she starts to leave already, and she turns around, “Stall if you have to. And be careful.” I
tell her.
Micah grabs her hand and gives me a curt nod telling me he’ll keep her safe and I nod in return. Goddess, please!
Dallas watches them leave and closes his eyes like he doesn’t know what’s going to come of this, but I turn my attention to Hazel. “I won’t let him take you back.” I tell her sternly and she shakes her head. “If you fight him, you fight him for my boys. I’ll go back happily as long as they’re safe.” She tells me. “Mom.” Finn starts but she shakes her head, “You being safe is the only thing that’ll make any of this worth it.” She tells him sternly and he grits his teeth and looks at the floor.
Cole stands up next to Hazel and grabs around her waist, looking down at her with a nod. They have a plan in case things go sideways. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.
Mom and dad both come back into the room and dad throws everything off the coffee table, while mom starts to lay down the map, then slides a box of things over to Hazel. “I wasn’t sure what would work best.” Mom whispers, and Hazel nods. Grabbing the box and shuffling through everything.
She pulls out a little pink stuffed bunny and Dallas makes a sound in the corner, as he slides to the floor against the wall. I grit my teeth from the emotions I know he has swirling inside him at the sight of seeing something that meant so much to Liam.
Hazel looks over at him, then sets it down next to her, then looks down at the map.
