Chapter 262

I walk back into my hospital room and look around. “Where’s Liam?” I ask and Hazel gestures to the door. “He needed some air.” She explains and I nod my head. I guess I can understand that.

Hazel stands up, and I walk over and hug her. “I’m so sorry.” I whisper into her ear. She pulls away and shakes her head. “You didn’t do anything.” She tells me, and my face saddens.

I take a deep breath and look over at Griffon, then back to her. I start to say something, but she shakes her head again. “Stop, Amy. Stop worrying about us, and everything we went through. We’ll figure things out ourselves. You need to worry about you. It’s not like you were on vacation the last two years. And maybe… Just maybe if you stopped worrying about everybody else and only about yourself for two seconds none of this would have happened.” She says sternly and I take a step away from her.

“Hazel…” Cole starts, but Hazel turns to him and shakes her head. “No! Don’t! If she wouldn’t have been so worried about Griffon, she wouldn’t have even been in those cells. If she wouldn’t have been so worried about everyone else, she wouldn’t have had to be tortured for two years. The witch got what she wanted because she was so worried about Heather. Everything comes down to her being so concerned about everyone else and not caring what happens to her!” Hazel shouts.

Mia wraps her arm around my waist and squeezes.

“If my mom wasn’t so worried about keeping everyone alive, you wouldn’t have found your mate. You wouldn’t have had your kids. Half of us wouldn’t exist, because they’d all have died when our grandfather came to kill them. Don’t fault my mother because she cares.” Griffon growls, and Hazel turns to glare at him.

“You’re right maybe we should fault you for not caring enough. Maybe if we weren’t all hanging on by a thread while they were gone, we would have noticed sooner. Maybe if we weren’t all worried about what new punishment, you’d come up with for anyone who dared fight back with you, we’d have been able to figure this out before it got this far.” Hazel sneers at Griffon.

Griffon stands off the wall and Cole goes to stand in front of Hazel. Mia pulls me back slightly, but I pull out of her hold.

I stand in front of Cole and look at Griffon. “Stop. Please. Stop this.” I beg them, but the tension doesn’t die down if anything it gets worse.

“Yes, stand between two pissed off wolves while you look like a small wind could knock you over. I’m sure Dallas will protect you, even though he’s no better than your son.” Nick sneers and my eyes meet with his.

It clicks in my brain that if Dallas stayed and Nick left, they aren’t together anymore. Shit.

“Shut the fuck up, Nick.” Griffon snarls and Nick’s instantly on his feet. “Or what? You’re going to punish me? But wait you won’t because now you’d have someone to answer to. Someone who you care about looking down on you. Did they tell you how he puts people on a stage and whips them.” Nick growls, looking at me like he’s wanting an answer.

My face falls and I look at Griffon, his face instantly turning ashamed. “It was to keep the pack protected.’ Griffon growls and Nicks laughs.

“Please, if you knew your pack was so safe, why the hell would you have let Aspen leave? You wanted to get her away from the crazy and we all know it. Don’t sit here and claim safety when all it was, was a boy throwing a

tantrum because his parents died.”

I swallow down the stomach acid that rises in my throat. He whipped them?

“This isn’t the time, or the place to be discussing this.” Mia sneers over at the boys, but they don’t look away from each other.

Dallas slowly starts moving from the window closer to me, like any sudden movements is going to set off a brawl.

“I can apologize for the mistakes I made regarding the pack, but you blame me for what happened between you and Dallas, and I had nothing to do with that.” Griffon growls, and Nick chuckles. “You think an apology will make us forgive you after everything we went through. You made it so we didn’t feel safe in our own homes. You may not have directly been the cause of Dallas and I, but you were a factor.” Nick growls and Griffon shakes his head.

“You guys were having problems long before…” Nick cuts him off. “Long before the witch invaded our home, and you let Clara trick you regardless of the warnings your mom tried to give you. After the clues and the hints, the fucking bitch practically laid out for you, that you ignored. Because we were good before all of that. And maybe if we could have handled all of that sooner. None of this would be happening.” Nick snarls and my mouth falls open again.

No. No. No. This is getting out of hand all over again.

Griffon’s body shakes, but Nick doesn’t back down. I look over and Walker is finally walking closer like he’ll intervene if he needs to and Dallas grabs my arm and starts to pull me out from between them.

My head starts swimming, and I lose my balance, the room spinning around me, as Dallas holds me up right. ” Amy?” He talks to me, but he sounds far away.
