Chapter 264

Aspen leads us back to her new house. In her new pack and that just doesn’t sit right with me.
I hate that things have gone so wrong since we’ve been gone, but I agree with Liam, we have other things to concern ourselves with.
I don’t know how much stronger this witch is, but if she only needs one night a year to do what my dad did in twelve nights a year, that frightens me.
I’m terrified at what the death toll will be if we allow it. I know I won’t allow it. I know I’ll do whatever I have to do to stop it, but I also know I’m going to be fighting everybody when it comes to that.
Liam won’t ever just agree to let me end this.
‘You won’t be able to anyway.’ The witches voice echos in my mind, and I grit my teeth. What does she know?
She crackles, “A lot more than you. You think your dad never woke up after killing his family and tried to end it all? It won’t be possible. Nothing you do will stop this.’ She tells me and I close my eyes as Liam leads me up the stairs to the house.
I open my eyes when we walk in and see everyone but Griffon here. Liam walks forward, no nonsense, and straight to the point.
“We’re going home. If you want to come, get ready and meet us outside in ten minutes.” He growls, clearly still pissed at them.
He takes us back outside and looks over at Aspen, “Which ones yours?” She points to a little red car and Liam drags me over to it, opens the door and sits me down.
Kneeling beside the car to look at me. He shakes his head and looks down, before his sad eyes look back up at me. “I’m so sorry, Angel. I’m so sorry about all of this. I wish I could change anything that happened, and I’m so sorry I can’t.” He whispers and I shake my head.
“None of it is for you to apologize for, Liam. You had as little control over everything as I did. I don’t blame you for anything. I don’t blame them for how they reacted to us dying, sure I wish things were different. I wish everyone didn’t hate our son, and their friendships would have survived it all, but I can’t fault any of them.” I whisper and he shakes his head and stands up next to the car.
“I’m not surprised they fell apart.” He tells me, and I look up at him skeptically. He shrugs, “You were always the glue, Angel. You brought all of us together, even when we were kids. Our friendship grew after you joined the group. It doesn’t surprise me that after you disappeared everyone fell apart.” He explains and I shake my head.
“You’re all going to get through this. One way or another you guys will get better, and you will fix all of this.” I tell him and he looks down at me and chuckles.
I look at him confused and he just shakes his head and laughs, kneeling back down beside me and gripping my chin to look into his eyes. “If you think I won’t follow you wherever you think your going, you really have lost your mind, Angel. If it comes down to that. I will be right by your fucking side and we’ll be going to the afterlife together. Do you understand me? I’ve lived a life without you in it before, and I never plan to do it again. Our kids will survive; they already have. And if I have to haunt Griffon from the grave to make sure he doesn’t pull this shit again I will, but I’ll be watching him right next to you.” He says sincerely and absolutely.

‘That’s so sweet. Are you going to tell him that it’s not an option?’ The stupid witch says in my head, and I close my eyes to try and get her to shut up.
He looks at me concerned and all I can do is take a deep breath. He can tell something is up, probably guessing that she’s talking to me.
He leans his forehead down on mine, “I love you, Angel. Don’t ever forget that. No matter what happens next, that will never change.” He whispers and I smile, before leaning forward and pressing his lips to mine.
The kiss gets heated quickly, his hands digging into my hips as he pulls me closer to him.
Someone clears their throat behind us, and Liam groans into my mouth before pulling away. “Look, I get it, but it’s not like you’re going to strip her down out here in the open anyway. You gave us ten minutes, and we’re ready.” Mia smirks at us, and I can’t help the smile that grows on my face when I see she’s coming.
I look over and see everyone standing there ready to go, and smile. We’re all going home.
Griffon stands next to Heather, and Heather looks at me sadly. “I can’t go, mom. I’m sorry. I want to help, but I have to stay here.” She whispers and I stand up and walk over to her, pulling her in my arms and squeezing her as tight as I can.
“I understand, Sweetie.” I whisper and she pulls away with tears in her eyes. “I come see you before… Before the red moon, and I’ll be looking for answers from here.” She tells me and I give her a grateful smile.
