Chapter 265
Driving up to the pack, I think I’ve set myself up for what I’m going to see.
I’m wrong.
Griffon’s car in front of us stops at the gate… No… Wall, and he talks to the guard that walks up to him.
I can see the fear in the guards eyes from here.
Goddess.
Dallas must sense where my mind is, because he reaches out and grabs my hand.
He doesn’t speak. I doubt he knows what to say. He helped do this. He helped Griffon create this nightmare.
Aspen looks back at me through the rearview mirror, her eyes worried like she doesn’t know if I can handle what
we’re about to walk in to.
I give her a curt nod and lay my head down on Liam’s shoulder, his arm around me tightens.
The wall opens and allows all of us to drive through. The guard looks into the car as we pass, and his eyes widen
when he sees Liam and me.
I try to smile. I really do, but it falls short.
‘Aw. All this for little old me. It’s sweet.’ The witch speaks, but I ignore her. It’s what I’ve decided is best. I don’t want to engage with her anymore.
The pack looks… Different. I can’t imagine what Liam or Julia are thinking. This pack has always been important to them, and Griffon has ruined it in the past two years. All their hard work. All my hard work to make this pack a
safe haven… Gone.
When I expect Aspen to turn to go to the houses, she keeps driving.
I can already guess where we’re going. The giant building that takes up so much room. It looks like a packhouse, which is something I wanted to do, but not like this. It looks more like a prison.
We pass the park that’s no longer a park and I have to close my eyes. I see the stage. I know this is what Nick was talking about.
I can’t look at that. Out of everything he’s done, that one hurts me the most. He knows how we’ve felt about violence and people having the right to chose. But he’s taken that from everyone here.
Apparently, he made it so people couldn’t even leave.
It makes me sick, but I hold it back. Being strong is the only way I can get through this. The car comes to a stop, and I open my eyes to indeed see we’ve stopped at the building that looks like a packhouse.
Liam helps me out, and I follow after him as we walk over to Julia and Griffon.
They’re both quiet, waiting.
As Mia, and Nick’s cars both pull up to the house behind us.

Mia and Walker are looking around to, like they’ve never seen this place. This must have been done after they
left.
I turn back to Griffon. His face is stoic and firm, but I can see the shame he feels in his eyes. See the pressure he feels having to put look at all of this in a different light now that we’re here to see it.
He doesn’t say anything though. Just turns around and starts to walk inside.
I’ve never seen the guards at the door before.
They don’t smile or welcome us home. They don’t even look at us. We walk further into the house and I look around at all the random doors, and maze of halls.
