Chapter 267

I grunt frustrated and lay my head in my hands. “You put your mate in a cell?” I ask Griffon after he tells me everything that’s happened since we left. He nods, looking over at the window, “She tried to kill me. I mean… I know now that she didn’t really want to kill me, but at the time I thought she did.” He explains and I sigh.

I shake my head and change to subject, “The stage is coming down, and we’re putting the park back. Your mom and I are not staying here, we’ll be heading back home. I’m getting rid of most of your safety rules. You’re going to explain to the pack how you acted out of fear and concern, then you’re going to apologize.”

His teeth clench and he shakes his head, “I may not have done everything right, but everything I did was to keep the pack safe. You said yourself mom said that she wanted to get to us, and she couldn’t.” He says and I roll my eyes, “She couldn’t get to Heather either. And you know why? She used other witches to protect her pack. She didn’t take away the packs free will and happiness to do it. All you’ve done is scare the pack. Frighten them more than they already were after not only your mom and I died, but Julia and John too. They were scared and you were supposed to make them feel safer, but you made them scared of their own pack. Goddess, Griff. Even Walker left.” I tell him.

If this was another Alpha I would probably kill him for some of the things he’s done to this pack. But it’s my son, and that’s not an option. It could have been worse and that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself.

Griff looks down, then back up at me. “I know I screwed up dad. I know I need to make things right. I just don’t know if I can. You’re right, while I’ll never not believe what I did, did keep the pack safe, I realize I may have gone about a few things wrong.” He tells me and my face softens towards him.

“We’re keeping the wall.” I tell him and his eyes widen in surprise. I shrug, “It won’t be a lockdown anymore, we may lose some people once I open it back up, but I like the wall.” I tell him and the shock is clear.

I don’t like the indication that the wall is a prison, but I do like the safety perimeters it gives us. Not only from the witch, but also from other packs. Especially since we have a lot of work to do with the other packs before we’re in good standing again.

Apparently, they aren’t happy with our lack of involvement since we disappeared and have made that very known.

I grab the list of prisoners and start making him tell me everything they’ve done. I want to decide for myself if they deserve to be locked up.

“Jenny?” I point to her name. “She tried to run.” He tells me, and I hold back the sigh at the amount of people who are in these cells for simply trying to get away from Griffon and put a check next to her name.

“Who’s prisoner number one?” I ask him and he clams up. Sitting back in his chair and looking over at the wall. ” Griff?”

His jaw ticks, and I really don’t understand this reaction.

My eyes swing up when the door opens and Dallas and Amy walk in. “I want to go home.” Amy whispers and I give her a small smile and a nod. “Just one more second.” I turn to Griff again, “Who’s prisoner one?” I ask again.

He still won’t answer, and I have to take a deep breath to not lose my shit on him.

“It’s Clara.” Dallas whispers, and Griffon turns to glare at him. My eyes widen and I turn to Dallas and Amy, seeing Amy’s surprised look as well.

“What?” I growl furious. “You say you want to keep the pack safe, but keep her alive?”

Griffon turns back to me, “She’s been locked up this whole time. She can’t affect the safety of the pack.” He tells

me,

and I shake my head. “Griff, she’s escaped before, and you know that. Why have you kept her alive?” I ask him and he glares at me.

“You think after she got my parents killed, I was going to simply let her off the hook by simply killing her? She needed to feel my pain, and I’ve made sure she has.” He answers, and I close my eyes.

I hate that I understand. If it were anyone else I might not, but I know how easy it is to want to torture that bitch, and after the feelings I’ve had toward the fucking witch, I really do understand his need for revenge against the person that hurt the people he loves.

“We’ll deal with it later. I want to go home.” Amy says and I open my eyes to look at her. She’s barely showing it, but I can see the pain in her eyes. Now weather that’s from what we just found out, or if she’s actually in pain, I don’t know, but I also don’t care. If she wants to go home, we’re going home.

I stand up, and look over at Griffon. “We’ll get started with everything tomorrow.” I tell him and he nods. I walk over to Amy and pick her up in my arms. Needing her close for both our sakes.

I look over at Dallas as he follows us out, “Do you think we can get out unseen?” I ask him, and he nods then
