Chapter 269

Waking up with my angel in my arms and in our own room is the most amazing feeling. I don’t even allow the problems outside this bubble to affect the serenity of this moment.

Her eyes flutter open, as if she can sense me staring at her beautiful face. Her radiant smile, mends something inside me that has seemed to be broken for such a long time. I love her. I couldn’t imagine not loving her until my dying breath and long after.

Her hand lifts to my chest, and she leans in and places a sweet kiss on my lips. Her body melts further into mine as the kiss starts becoming deeper more urgent.

She pulls away suddenly, sitting up and grasping her head. I pull myself up next to her, rubbing up and down her spine. We don’t talk about it. I know what it is. I know she’s talking to her again. Destroying this moment, much like she’s destroyed our lives.

We’ll figure this out though; we have to. Failure isn’t an option here. I can guess what Amy will do if we don’t figure this out before the red moon and it’s just not an option.

Her body leans into mine and she lets out a relieved breath. My presence soothing her, just like it always does. It won’t last long though, not with that leech inside her head.

I kiss her shoulder, “Come on, Angel. Let’s get ready to go back to the packhouse.” I whisper to her, and she nods.

We get ready slowly, like we’re taking our time in the normal, but my mind has already started running through what needs to get done.

While Hazel and everyone keeps looking for something to help Amy, I need to first deal with Clara; I may understand why Griffon has kept her alive, but I want her gone, she’s proven herself to be a problem for this pack over and over again. I don’t want her anywhere near my mate. Then we need to handle the pack.

I know Griffon has burnt more than a few bridges and I’m going to have to try to repair it, before everyone revolts. Then Griffon; we need to figure out if his name can be redeemed, I have no intentions of being Alpha forever and if we can’t fix things, we’re going to have to start looking at other options.

Amy walks up to me fully dressed and pulls my face down to look into her eyes, “I know Alpha mode has started, but I don’t think we should kill Clara.” She tells me, and my teeth clench. “I don’t want her anywhere near you.” I growl, pulling her waist so she’s pressed up against me.

“I know, but she’s the only connection to the witch. She’s the only one that really knows anything. We need to figure out what she knows first.” She tells me her eyes wide and innocent, with the face she knows I’d give her whatever she wants.

I grunt my agreement. As much as I don’t like it. She’s right. If anyone knows anything, it’d be Clara or Amy, but I don’t think she’d be keeping anything from me if it would help the cause.

When we walk out of the room, Dallas is already leaning up against the wall across from our room. Dressed and ready to go.

He smiles at Amy and walks to her other side as we head to the tunnels and make our way through them.

We get to the office and Griffon is already in there waiting. He gets out of the chair as soon as he sees me and

Amy walks over to him and gives him a hug.

I don’t think she’s in the right mind set to let everything he did bother her. I think she’s working with the idea that she might not have long and she’s refusing to let him think she’s mad at him before it happens.

I just refuse to let it happen, and I wasn’t lying before. If she goes, I’m going with her. I refuse to live on a plane of existence that she isn’t also living on. She’s my everything. She always has been, even when I pretended to hate her when we were kids; she was always on my mind.

“We’re seeing Clara today.” I tell Griffon once Amy lets go of him. With a reluctant sigh, he nods. Amy looks over at me, “On that note, I think I’m going to go get breakfast.” She tells me and I nod.

She walks over giving me a gentle kiss before grabbing Dallas’s hand and pulling him from the office. He goes easily, not wanting to probably ever be that far away from her again.
