Chapter 280
We slowly make our way up the stairs, Griffon staying close to my side. The door closes behind Randy, like it can sense he’s the last person to enter the stairwell. Weird.
Is there magic in the walls, or is someone fucking with us?
We finally make it up the mountain of stairs, and there’s another door waiting for us.
But this is just a normal door you’d find in one of our houses. Weird. I expected another dungeon or some trap to be at the end of this, not just a normal door.
I don’t want to get my hopes up to quickly though, I guess this could still be a trap.
I reach forward to grab the handle, but Griffon stops me. Pulling my hand back and replacing it with his own. I look at him like any independent woman would, with my eyes narrowed and a scowl on my face. He just chuckles softly and shakes his head.
I’m stronger than I look.
His hand slowly turns the knob and when he swings the door open, we see… A kitchen…
What?
It’s just a normal kitchen.
We all slowly and quietly make our way into the kitchen looking around. By the look on all of our faces, I’m assuming everyone’s head was where mine was.
They didn’t expect to find something so normal so close to the torture chamber.
“Let’s check the house for anyone, then we’ll start searching.” Cam whispers, and we all nod in agreement.
We all take off in different directions in pairs. Griffon goes with Norman, Finn and Randy, and I go with Cam and Lenny who has been unusually quiet this whole time.
While we move down the hall I look up at him, “Are you okay?” I whisper and he looks down at me like he’s surprised I spoke to him. He nods, “Just focused.” He responds and my lips twist to the side, not believing his answer.
I see someone huddled into a crouch on the ground… Amy?
I walk closer, my hand resting on her back, but she doesn’t seem to feel me, she just rocks back and forth, muttering something under her breath.
I get closer to hear her, “What did I do? What did I do? What did I do?” Her words on repeat. My eyes scrunch in confusion, then I notice the blood on her hands. Coating her torso and legs.
I hear a howl in the distance and Amy’s head shoots up and I fall onto my butt, as I try to move away from her bright red glowing eyes. I stop when I hit something behind me and slowly turn around.
A sob wracks through my body as I turn to get on my knees and hold onto my mother, but she’s lifeless, staring at the sky… Dead. My eyes move behind her to the creek where mountains of bodies are piled together.
Dad, Liam, Heather… Everyone…
Everyone…
My gaze moves to the sky, and moon of the darkest bloodiest red watches me. I swear I can see blood falling from the moon at rocket speed hitting the ground. The end. This is the end.
