Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 285

Chapter 285

I have nothing to grab onto before the wave hits me and sweeps me up underneath it.

I’m not able to keep track of everyone else as I’m spun around underneath the water and slam into the side of the cave wall.

My body aches as I try to push myself up out of the water for a breath of air, but I’m just pulls down again. The bag somehow slipping from my shoulder and falling gracefully into the water like it’s not a viper sent here to kill

I can’t lose that bag. It’s the whole reason we’re here. I have to get it, but I can’t breathe.

Strong arms wrap around my waist and start to pull me to the surface. I try to pull away so I can get the bag, but they refuse to let go.

My head flies out of the water, and I start pulling in precious breaths of air the second it does. Goddess.

I turn in Griffon’s arms and shake my head, “We have to get the bag.” I tell him and he shakes his head breathing roughly as he continues to hold us above the water. “No! I’m not risking your life, Aspen!” He shouts, as the water continues to pour over head, even though the cave is more half-way filled up.

“Griffon! We need it! We need it to save your mom!” I shout back at him, and his arm tightens around my waist. He starts swimming as I fight him the whole way, trying to get out of his hold.

We get to the small tunnel, and he pushes my body into the air and Finn pulls me up into one of the steppingstones. “Hold her there!” Griffon orders Finn, then turns around and dives under the water.

“Let me go, Finn!” I shout at him as Randy also takes ahold of me, “Damn! You are stronger than you look.” Finn tries to joke, but I turn my head to glare at him. “I need to help him!” I shout at him, and he shakes his head. The rain causing his hair to stick to the side of his saddened face. “No, Aspen. You need to stay here. You’ll only distract him if you go down there. He’ll not be able to get the bag if he’s worried about you dying.” He tells me and all the fight leaves my body as I turn to look back at the water.

It feels like an eternity as time seems to move in slow motion waiting for him to breach the surface again.

Finn and Randy’s arms still holding onto me tightly, like they know if they let go for one second, I’d be gone, and I haven’t decided if that’s true or not yet.

I want to help, but Finn’s right. I would only be a distraction.

I turn to look at Cam, my eyes pleading for him to… I don’t even know. I just know I can’t help, and Griffon’s been under for a really long time.

Cam looks over my face, and with a curt nod he dives into the water, and Lenny follows.

Now all three are gone.

“Move!” Finn shouts at Cam and pushes him to the side, Randy walking up next to him as they both place their hands on the wall and start chanting in another language.

I take a deep breath as I start to realize what they’re doing, and Griffon takes a step closer to me, his hand wrapping around my waist and holding onto me tightly like he needs support.

The water starts building faster, like it’s angered by their words. One second, it’s at our ankles, and now it’s at our waist… Our chest… “Hurry!” Lenny shouts at them, even though I’m sure he has no idea what’s going on either.

Griffon wraps his other arm around me and pulls me up against his chest as the water starts to rise to my face and keeps me further from drowning. But it only helps for a second before the water rises again.

Then the cave explodes open.

The dirt flying outward and all of us flying out with it as the water pushes us forward. All of u gasping for breath but standing quickly and moving away from the tunnel.

The water starts pouring out of the tunnel, until it slowly lessens, and stops altogether.

I take a few deep breaths before looking over at Finn. He looks disappointed in himself, but glares over at me. Next time I tell you not to open something, listen.” He growls and I nod. Already knowing this was all my fault.
