Chapter 286
Something’s going on with everybody today. They all know something I don’t and it’s driving me insane. I hate that I’m not allowed to know anything, because this stupid leech in my head will use whatever knowledge they have against us.
‘You think that Liam will find someone new? You know someone without a crazy witch inside them. I mean you’ve had sex with him, what? One time since you guys have been out of my cells. He’s probably craving some by now. Maybe you can convince him to come down here and play. It’d be fun. I won’t hurt him. I swear it.’ The witch chuckles, and I grit my teeth. “Shut up!” I whisper shout at her, and Dallas freezes across the table.
I look over at him, and he’s looking at me worried. “Sorry.” He tells me, and I shake my head. “Not you. Sorry.” I whisper to him, and he glances up at my head like he might see the witch there.
Dallas starts to talk again, but she interrupts him again, ‘What about him. He’s cute. He could be fun. I see the way he looks at you, I bet we could convince him to defy his Alpha.’ I squeeze my eyes shut and slam my head against the bars.
The blanket that’s covering them so I can stick my hand through to play the games with Dallas, doing next to nothing about the pain the shoots through my head. Dallas curses, but I pull back and slam my head against the bars again, this time his hand is there to stop me.
“Amy! Stop! You’re going to hurt yourself.” He shouts at me, and I shrug. “Maybe if I hit the bar hard enough, she’ll fly out of my head. She’s just like a spirit or something, right? How stuck could she be?” I try and joke as I pull my head back and cover the aching with my hand.
Dallas scoffs, “If it were that easy, I’d let you do it.” He jokes back.
‘Not that easy. I’m stuck in here for good, you won’t be getting rid of me. Not until I get what I want.’ She hisses and I grit my teeth, standing up and pacing the room.
“What do you want?” I shout at her, and she laughs, ‘Nothing from you other than your body and the power housed inside it.’ She sneers and I shake my head. “What power? I don’t have any power.” I tell her and she chuckles, “You’re right. Your body is weak. Like scary weak. Aren’t you a wolf? I thought wolves were strong? Anyway, your body may be weak, but the power your dad placed inside you is anything but. You have him to thank for making you the best vessel for me. Then again maybe you should just thank yourself if you hadn’t killed your dad I wouldn’t have needed you.’ She tells me, and my pacing stops.
‘What do you mean? Leah said the power left once he died.’ I ask her through my mind. She sighs giggly, ‘Not gone. Hidden. Waiting for the right person to use it.’ She laughs, and I reach up to rub my head, as shooting pain runs through it.
“Amy, are you okay?” I hear Dallas behind me but ignore him.
‘What even is this power? I don’t understand.’ I ask her and she just laughs harder. ‘You don’t need to understand, girl. All you need to do is play your part in my little game.’
My breathing starts coming faster, my heart racing faster, then everything calms when I hear his voice. ‘I’m here, Angel.’ Liam whispers into my thoughts and a smile graces my face. ‘I’m okay.’ I try to reassure him, after I’m sure Dallas mind-linked him to tell him I was losing my shit.
I turn to look at Dallas, and realize how high up I am. I look down and see I’m standing on my bed. When did I get
I shift into my wolf and all of it stops. For some reason, I can’t hear her anymore. I can’t hear her nonsense.
I look up at Dallas with a whimper and he nods curtly like he understands.
He’s been down here every second since I got down here. He refuses to leave my side and has had to help me through several problems I’ve been having.
Liam’s been here in spirit. But I refuse to let him actually come down here. I just think it would be too hard for either of us.
‘We need to figure out how to get rid of her.’ Leah growls and I shake my head, ‘We can’t do anything. She knows everything we know.’ I tell her and she growls. ‘No, she doesn’t. She knows everything you’re told, Amy. Have you not noticed how she doesn’t comment on any of your and our mates mind-links, you and mine. She only hears what you hear. She can’t read your mind.’ She tells me.
Her head turns towards the window in my cell as I think about that. Think about everything that’s happened. Has she really not been able to hear any of my mind-links.
Only one way to find out… Test it.
