Chapter 295
‘Amy escaped!’ Mia’s words ring like bells through my mind as I stop mid run. My eyes search the surrounding like she’ll pop up, but she doesn’t.
Where would she have gone?
‘Do you know where she went? Is everyone okay?’ I ask quickly, Walker stopping beside me and waiting for orders on what to do. ‘Dallas is pretty beat up, but he’ll be fine. We’re not sure where she went.’ Mia responds and I look over at Walker. ‘If she’s not here for all the wolves…’ I tell him and he takes off.
Cole, Finn and Randy all catch up and follow us to their house. The front door already hanging wide open and we rush inside.
Cole changes first, pounding into the door and trying to get inside, but he can’t.
We all shift back to help, but nothing. The door won’t budge, and we can’t hear anything happening on the other side. “Move!” Finn shouts at all of us and we turn to see him and Randy standing there with their hands out towards the door.
I don’t know what happened. I don’t know how it happens, but the door flies of the hinges and slams into the wall, shattering.
My eyes instantly search the room, but Amy’s beautiful wolf flies past us and rushes out of the house. I turn for one second to make sure Hazel’s okay, but I freeze when I see her state.
Fuck.
Cole pulls her from the ground and then looks into my eyes. “Go! Find her and put her back.” He shouts at me, and I give him a curt nod before turning and running through the door and searching for Amy.
Fuck.
I know this wasn’t her, but she’ll feel like it was all the same. Her hurting Hazel like that is going to devastate her.
Fuck!
My wolf runs through the woods following Leah’s path, up a hill and finally landing on the top of the mountain.
I shift back to climb up the side of the mountain and when I reach the top, I see her laying down right next to the edge unconscious.
I rush to her side, pulling her into my arms and holding her against my chest.
“What? What aren’t you saying?” I shout at him and he shakes his head and groans as he throws his hand in his
“It’s nothing, really… I just… Goddess, I wish this was my
happening to you. I watched you guys fall in love. I
watched you fight to be together, fight to not want to believe you belonged together. I Watched all the drama and battles you two had to face just to be with each other in the first place. It’s not fucking fair. The fifteen years of happiness you guys got wasn’t enough, you deserve a lifetime.” He finishes and I look back down at Amy.
Fucking tell me about it.
I look back up at Walker, “If it comes down to it, we’ll just have to live happily ever after in the afterlife.” I tell him and his jaw tightens and his eyes close. “What?” I whisper already knowing I’m not going to like what he has to say.
“If Amy dies while that witch inside her… I’m worried she won’t go to the Goddess. The witch takes the souls of the people her vessel kills and sends them who the fuck knows where. I’m worried that will include Amy, so if you don’t die from her hands…” Walker leaves the rest for me to figure out and my breath hitches.
Killing myself might not ensure we’re both together in the afterlife. Why haven’t I thought about this before now? He’s right. If the witch succeeds in her plan… The rest of the wolves won’t go back to the Goddess, there’s so much more here to worry about then just Amy and me. The entire species.
