Chapter 297
Well last night was a fucking train wreck. We went from everyone enjoying their time on the run, to two people injured and Hazel needing to be hospitalized.
My father dealt with all of that, while he left me to lead the run. I feel like since my speech, people are indifferent about me. They don’t like me, but they don’t hate me… Maybe.
It’s just how I felt about it.
My dad filled me in on all the problems that occurred last night and the fact my mother is now wearing the cuff I had used on Hazel to block her powers.
I really do hope that it works, and keeps my mom safe, and the people who are around her.
Finn and Randy’s powers are now out in the open, but everyone is curious if the witch saw them. If she didn’t there’s a possibility that we could maybe use them to boost whatever spell we find, maybe use them as a secret weapon. I don’t know how Hazel will feel about that though. It’s pretty obvious their powers were supposed to be kept secret.
I sit in the chair on the other side of the desk I once called mine and look across it at my dad. He’s just staring out the window as if the sky itself will just give him all the answers.
Last night was hard on him. You can see it written all over his face and I haven’t been able to snap him out of this mood he’s in yet.
Dallas and Mia are both already healed and Hazel and stitched up and already back at home. Everything that happened, while crazy, it wasn’t the worst that could have happened, so I’d call that a win.
But my dad seeing mom again clearly doesn’t feel like a win to him. And I get it. I can’t imagine how he feels having to go through this. How mom feels. I think it’s wearing on all of us a little bit.
Aspen shrugs, “Something about wanting her side of last night. How it might help her understand the spell better if she knows where her mind goes when the witch takes over. I don’t know. Witchy stuff.” She tells him and his glances at me then back at her.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Amy’s not feeling well after last night.” He tells her and I sit up a little straighter in my chair. “What do you mean?” I ask him and his teeth clench.
“This time just seemed to take a bit more out of her than last time.” He explains and I look over at Aspen as she looks between us worried.
“I mean if anything Hazel may be able to help her.” She says and dad shakes his head. “No. She might also bring the witch out again and that’s not something I’m willing to risk right now.” Dad says and Aspen purses her lips. “Okay… Well, what about we all go down there? She’s not going to come forward and try and kill Hazel with all of us there to stop her. Let’s have a family dinner or something. I bet money Amy would love to see everyone together.” Aspen finishes and I smile just thinking about how much my mom would indeed love that.
I look over at my dad and he takes a deep breath. “Fine. I guess we could try that.” He tells her.
