Chapter 298
“Everyone’s coming.” Dallas tells me and I look up at him confused. “What do you mean?” I ask him and he shrugs. “I guess we’re doing a family dinner down here.” Dallas explains and I purse my lips. “Is that a good idea?” I ask and he shrugs again, “Guess we’ll find out. Hazel needs to talk to you.”
I look down at the ground and clench my jaw. I hate this feeling. I know I didn’t technically hurt her, but it still feels like I did.
I look up at him, “Is Liam coming?” I ask him and he smirks, “I don’t think we could convince him to stay away.” He tells me and I smile. I know how hard it is to see him and then for him to disappear now and I hate it. But I love seeing him.
It’ll be nice to see everybody. Together. Just like old times.
I just wish I could do more; I can’t even cook anything down here. Dallas chuckles looking down at his phone and I wait for him to tell me. “Your son is apparently going to attempt to make Heather’s famous m&m cookies. How much to you want to bet he’ll need Aspen’s help?” He asks, and I laugh. “I have faith in him.” I joke and Dallas chuckles. “We’ll see.”
He looks up at me, “How’s everything… With that?” He asks, pointing at my head. I purse my lips. “She’s been quiet the past few days since the attack.” I tell him and tilt my head, “Come to think of it, she was quiet last time for a few days too, after she killed Clara.” I tell him and his eyes scrunch, “So, what? Possessing you wears her out?” He asks.
I shrug, “Maybe.” I look down at my wrist. The iron cuff causing my skin to get red and irritated and I start scratching underneath it.
I sigh frustrated and look back up at Dallas. He’s watching me, then throws his hand out towards the cuff. “I’ll have Mia bring you some of the cream I snuck Hazel to help with that.” He tells me and my lips twist.
I try not to think about everything that happened while Liam and I were gone. And I definitely was trying to forget about what my son did to the one person that can help us now.
idea, and one you will definitely get the chance to implement. When we make it out of this, not if.” He says absolutely and I turn my head to look at him more fully.
“I wish I had your faith, but I was barely able to fight back this time. I don’t know how much fight I have left in me.” I tell him and he shakes his head. “You are stronger than you realize, Aims, because you have something to fight for. She doesn’t. She’s fighting for herself and that will be her downfall.” He tells me and I smile.
“But what if the love I have for all of you, or the love you all have for me is our downfall?” I ask him and he stares at me, his face blank. “Then I guess we all die.” He says straight faced until the corner of his lip twitches with a smile.
I roll my eyes, “I think I need a drink.”
