Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

I wake up the next morning, feeling better then normal. What happened last night? I wasn’t expecting that at all. What does it mean? I mean I know I was willing to become friends with them again, since I could just see them around home and not have to worry about Clara anymore. But, that kiss. I can’t deny how amazing that kiss was. He says he wants to be my first and last kiss. But what does that even mean? He has a mate out there somewhere, and if he thinks I’m going to be his side piece. Yeah, that’s not happening.

I walk downstairs and head to the kitchen for breakfast. My mind going all over the place about being happy or upset about that kiss.

I slide into my chair at the table and look up at my mom smiling. She watches me suspiciously, “You’re rather happy today.” She says looking me over. I just shrug and look at the plate of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon she sits in front of me, my favorite. She chuckles, “What were you and your friends up to last night?” She asks, which I knew she would. She loves having the inside scoop of my life and now my life actually has an inside scoop. I inwardly chuckle, “The guys wanted to tell me a story, and then we played a game of truth or dare.” I laugh and continue. “The sardines you for some reason have are now gone, just so you know.” I finish and see her chuckle. “I thought my kitchen was a little out of sorts today. I take it that bowl of disgustingness had something to do with the game?” I laugh, “Yeah sorry, I would have cleaned it. I completely spaced til now. But Walker had to eat some of it as punishment for not answering a truth, he went to the bathroom after and threw it up. We’re not sure what all Mia put into it.” I laugh, enjoying having something to actually tell her for once. Even at the expense of her kitchen. She looks disgusted that Walker had to eat some of Mia’s concoction which makes me laugh harder.

She smiles, “Oh, that sounds… fun.” She chuckles, “And what story did the guys tell you?” She asks, my eyes go wide. “Mom, it was such a messed-up story. Kind of made me nervous being in a room full of werewolves. I’m seventeen and it freaked me out. Apparently, it’s a bedtime story for the young werewolves around here. Have you heard the story of the moon man?” I ask. I see her face turn sour but is replaced by a small smile. “Yes, I’ve heard it. Finish your food and go start on your homework.” She says and then walks up to her room. Okay? That was weird. Maybe she doesn’t like the moon man story? Maybe it freaks her out as much as it freaks me out? I don’t know, I just finish eating and head back to my room.

Hours later, I’m still sitting at my desk working on homework. My mom has come to check on me a few times, but I think she realizes she has nothing to worry about. I’ll get my work done, before slacking off. So, she told me, she’ll probably get back to her normal work schedule next week.

I have my headphones in, so I don’t realize someone’s in my room until someone kicks the back of my chair playfully. I take my headphones out and turn towards the intruder. I smile shyly when it turns out to be Liam. I’m not sure how to act right now. How do you act after your childhood best friend kisses you, after years of abandonment and hate? Regardless of everything, I did enjoy the kiss. I just don’t know if I’m ready to forgive and forget.

He smiles at me, “You are way too easy to surprise in your room.” I roll my eyes, and try to shake off the feeling of wanting him to kiss me again. “Well, most people knock.” I respond, he grins. “I did… This time. You didn’t respond.” I don’t miss the fact that he said this time. Seemingly thinking about last night when he didn’t. My face reddens from my thoughts, so I turn and look at my desk.

I look around my room, thinking the others should be here too. When I don’t see anyone else, I turn back towards him, “What are you doing here?” He smirks shyly looking over at the door. Seemingly hoping someone will come save us from the awkwardness of all this. He rubs the back of his neck when his eyes meet mine again.

“Well, I… I wanted to talk about last night.” I turn away from him again. “Oh?” I ask, not willing to look him in the eyes, in case he says it was a mistake.
