Chapter 55
Amy decided she wanted to train a little bit, but she won’t let me help her because she thinks I’ll go to easy on her. So, Walker is training her. Dallas catches up with them and joins their conversation, as I follow behind with Cole. “Walker says she’s doing good.” Cole whispers and I nod. I hate that she even has to train, hate that she still feels scared, but this does seem to be helping, even if she’s no where near being able to take down a werewolf. Cole looks at me skeptically, “You know it has nothing to do with us right? I think she just wants to feel like she can protect herself, even if it’s just a little bit.” I look over at Cole and nod again.
I know what he saying, but I can’t get it out of my head that there’s more to it. Like she wants this strength for when she leaves and we’re not around to protect her.
We get to the gym and Walker and Amy are standing in the middle of the floor, starting their stretches. “So, where’d you and Mia run off to this afternoon?” Walker asks Amy, while they both stretch for their toes. Amy gets a sly smile on her lips and looks over at him. “Confidential information there; Walker. Only the privileged get to know.” She chuckles softly and looks away. Walker gets an equally sly smile on his face, “Alright well, only the privileged get extra push-ups, I’m thinking… Fifty today. You know since you’re so privileged.” He smirks and Amy’s jaw drops. “I can barely do the fifteen you normally have me do!” Walker smirks and shrugs, ” Wouldn’t want to go easy on you.” He explains clearly talking about her saying I’d go easy on her. I smirk and go sit on the seat in the corner.
Amy glares at Walker and then at me, I just throw my hands up in defense. “Hey, I said I’d train you.” She glares a little more and then falls to the ground. Cole walks over next to her and gets into push-up position, looking at Amy. “If I can do the fifty push-ups will you tell me where you went?” He chuckles and Amy glares at him too,” You’ll know soon enough Cole.” She says, which gets all our attention while Cole chuckles starting on his push-
ups.
“Hey why does he get to know!” Walker accuses her, and she smirks, starting her push-ups. Walker looks over at Dallas, “Don’t you want to know?” Dallas laughs and cringes a little. “You already know?” Walker exclaims, looking at Amy accusingly. Amy shrugs and Dallas laughs, “Yeah, and you’re gonna feel like a dick once you find out and she had to do all these extra push-ups.” I look over at Amy, who smirks but keeps doing the push-ups.
“Alright fine. You can stop.” Walker says to her, but she pretends not to hear him and keeps going. Cole nearly done with his, and she’s on twenty five. I laugh at how stubborn she is, she won’t even be able to train once she’s done – her arms are shaking so bad- but she’s proving her point.
We all watch as she finally finishes and falls flat on the ground, turning over to look up at the ceiling. Walker stands over her and reaches down a hand for her, smiling, “Alright, ready to train now?” She rolls her eyes and slaps away his hand, turning over to stand on her shaky legs. I mean I don’t know about them, but I’m pretty proud that she’s able to stand.
