Chapter 108 It Backfires

While Nira was dealing with Chase in the garden, a group of people was already heading in our direction.

I saw Nira come this way,a welldressed girl said as she led them forward.

Valerie walked at the center of the group, her expression carefully arranged into concern.

Bella, are you sure you saw Chase follow her out here?

Bella nodded without hesitation. “I’m positive. That was Nira.”

A subtle tension spread through the group.

Everyone knew who Chase was.

A notorious playboy across the entire pack alliance. A hybrid looked down on by their circle, but backed by a powerful family, which made him dangerous in a different way. He acted without restraint, and most people avoided crossing him for that exact reason.

If he had gone after Nira, the outcome didn’t need much imagination.

We should hurry,Valerie said, her voice tight with urgency.

But the flicker in her eyes told a different story. Then a sound reached them from ahead, low and rough, like a man losing control.

A few of them exchanged looks, the implication clear.

They assumed Chase had already gotten what he wanted.

Valerie’s pace quickened immediately, anticipation flashing across her face as she moved ahead of the group.

Come on, don’t fall behind.

By the time they reached the source of the noise, though, everything stopped.

What they saw wasn’t what anyone expected.

Chase was clinging to a tree, his clothes in disarray, his hair a mess, his body covered in cuts. Some of them were deep enough to expose raw flesh, the damage uneven and brutal like he had just come out of a fight he couldn’t win.

Someone let out a sharp scream.

The sound snapped his head toward them.

His eyes were completely red now, burning with something unstable, his fangs bared as a harsh snarl tore out of his throat. Whatever control he had left was gone.

Valerie was the closest.

She didn’t even have time to react before he lunged.

He grabbed her and dragged her in, hands roaming without restraint as he pressed against her. She struggled instantly, panic taking over, but his strength made it impossible to break free.

Fabric tore under his grip, the sound sharp in the quiet garden.

Chase, let her go!Bella shouted, her voice shaking, but she didn’t dare step closer.

Help me!Valerie’s voice broke as she cried out, all the earlier excitement gone, replaced by real fear.

Chase, what do you think you’re doing?

The voice cut through everything, sharp and controlled.

Heads turned.

Damian was already moving toward them, his expression dark enough to make the air feel colder.

As Valerie’s brother, his standing across the pack alliance was second only to the Howell family. No one present would dare ignore him.

And everyone knew exactly how much he cared about her.

He didn’t slow down.

In the next second, he shifted, his form expanding into a massive black wolf as he closed the distance in a single burst of speed and slammed straight into Chase, knocking him off balance and sending him crashing to the ground.

Chase tried to recover, but he didn’t stand a chance.

Damian’s wolf pinned him down with a single, crushing motion, holding him there no
