Agatha had only just arrived when the accusations hit her head–on, catching her completely off guard.

Her cane struck the marble floor with a heavy, echoing thud as she straightened, her wolf eyes sharpening with authority. “Miss Flores, choose your words carefully.”

Her voice carried weight, cold and controlled. “What does any of this have to do with the Soren family, or with Nira? You don’t get to throw accusations around without proof.”

At that moment, everyone gathered had only seen Chase lying there alone, unconscious and disheveled.

Valerie clearly had no intention of backing down. She reached out and pulled Bella forward, forcing her into the center of attention. “She saw it. Bella saw Nira meeting Chase right here.”

All eyes turned.

Bella stiffened under the pressure, her confidence wavering as she found herself facing Agatha, Colette, and the rest of the room. Still, she forced the words out. “Yes… I saw them.”

“You’re lying.” Colette stepped forward without hesitation, her tone sharp and precise as she fixed Bella with a steady gaze. “A minute ago, you said you saw Chase following Nira this way. Now suddenly you’re claiming you witnessed them meeting here?”

She didn’t raise her voice, but every word landed with intent. “What exactly is the Flores family trying to imply here? Why are you so determined to smear the Soren estate?”

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

What had started as a personal accusation was now something bigger, something that carried the weight of two families standing against each other.

Everyone present understood the difference in standing. The Soren estate had deep roots and a legacy built over generations, while the Flores family, despite its influence, didn’t carry the same historical weight.

Bella faltered immediately. Her gaze dropped, and she said nothing more.

Valerie felt control slipping through her fingers and quickly cut in, her voice tightening. “Colette, don’t try to twist the narrative. Everyone here can see what’s going on.”

Damian’s gaze locked onto her face, and he froze where he stood, the reaction immediate and unmistakable.

Kade stepped out right behind her, his presence following like a pressure wave that rolled through the room. As the heir to the Howell family, his authority didn’t need to be announced, it was simply felt.

His gaze moved across the crowd once, controlled and unreadable, before settling on Chase with undisguised disdain. “If you want the truth,” he said calmly, “ask the person involved.”

He didn’t wait for permission.

Closing the distance in a few strides, he drove his foot straight into Chase’s abdomen.

The impact forced a sharp, pained sound out of Chase as his body jolted, his consciousness dragged back by sheer force. He curled instinctively, clutching his stomach as he struggled to orient himself.

“Talk,” Kade said, his voice low and cutting, the kind that carried quiet threat instead of volume. “Who were you meeting here?”

As he spoke, his foot shifted, pressing down against Chase’s chest just enough to remind him exactly who he was dealing with.

Pain twisted Chase’s features, but the moment his eyes met Kade’s, whatever sound he might have made died in his throat.

He had already been terrified by Nira earlier. Now, he didn’t even dare look in her direction.

His gaze darted through the crowd in panic before landing on Valerie, and the words came out before he could stop himself. “It was Valerie. She told me to come here.”
